I guess I have always naturally played as a Thief even before I found Thief. When it told me to blackjack that guard, and put out that light (T2 was the first one I played), I sure did, and I just didn't confront the guards - there was always a safer option. Instantly hooked on the game.

:o I was surprised to find out Garret actually not only moves up & down but also left & right while climbing walls... What a shame...:erm:

....I tried to put out a torch with a fire arrow...... I was dead a few seconds later (the guards didn't have much of a sense of humor!)....

Yes, I am. Even after getting the key to the wellhouse in Bafford´s, I would not jump into the well and instead search for buttons or levers to open those grates blocking my path.
Finally needed a walkthrough for this reeaally difficult puzzle... :o

I was playing the Thieves Guild mission today and stumbled into a guard. I never stumble into guards. I'll run at them but never stumble. :p

What a great thread - which deserves to be dragged up from the depths!
I'm a T:DS newbie, and did something very stupid indeed in St Edgar's Cathedral the other night. The elevator was upstairs, and I was downstairs. And I went into the elevator space ... and pressed the button. Next thing, Garrett's getting bounced into the ground, going "Uh, uh, ow, ouch".

I put this once in and here it goes again:
Quote:
When first playing Metal Age I thought "heck, lets play it safe and sound and start with 'normal'". When I reached Framed I threw in 'hard' (more interesting goals) and played the whole game through with that. After kicking the dusts of Karras I thought "that was fun. Lets play the first two with 'expert'". After five hours of intensive gaming I hadn't complited the first one! I was lacking the gems needed to complete the mission and got stuck for hours. Garrett got hurt when I piled up crates to search chandeliers and things like that. I had found the lever that opens the secret over the bedroom bed, but hadn't noticed it 'cause it was in the shadows. You can try to guess how I felt when I was reading the walkthrough...
You can't go lower than that...

Yeah, I've done that one too many times also. Now I'm careful to crouch & center myself right in the very middle of the elevator.
I did do something totally airheaded last night while playing Dr.K's FM, 'Rocksbourg Pt. 2'; I had just climbed up from the depths of the notorious Tunnel 21, hadn't crept six feet away when a guard heard me & started coming towards me. I jumped up & started to run - but ran straight over the T. 21 shaft & fell to my death. I hate it when I do that! :cheeky:

Nah - mine was even dumber than that - I summoned the elevator from upstairs while I was downstairs and standing in the elevator space - so the descending elevator bounced off my head: doh!

:laff:
Now that's gonna leave a mark!
