He also did a good job of American Graffiti and THX 1138. Whatever talent he had as a director went out the door with the prequels, though; he made proven good actors look crap, and middling actors look abysmal.

The prequels were doomed from conception. There is nothing good about them. Except Jango Fett. I think it must just be impossible to mess up a Fett.

Also, Max Von Sydow is still alive.
I know, right? Fucking insane.
In other news: colour me lukewarm on this still. Good cast, but such bad legacy from the Prequels and JJ Abrams is something of a flashy but hollow director who has done a very fun but also quite artificial job on Star Trek. There are so many moving parts that can go wrong... if I see a single lens flare off a lightsabre in a trailer I will straight up quit it.

But will you hit it first?
Max is only 85 guys. What's amazing is he's still acting (not that he's alive) and that he was in this piece of awesomeness: (

That's the whole film on YouTube and if you've never seen it you should rectify that forthwith.

"This video is not available in your country."
No problem, that's what I've got the Criterion DVD for.
SubJeff on 1/5/2014 at 06:38
Not on BluRay? hahahahah you failed hipster
Thirith on 1/5/2014 at 06:41
Failed hipsters are the new hipsters.
Also, if I replaced every Criterion DVD I'd bought with the Blu-ray when it came out, my wife's eye-rolling could be used to generate enough electricity to power most of Western Europe.
Hmm...
*goes and orders The Seventh Seal Blu-ray*

(
http://www.nerdist.com/2014/05/gareth-edwards-to-direct-star-wars-spin-off-for-2016/) Spin-off movie announced!
It'll maaaaybe center on Boba Fett. Estimated to be released in 2016. It will be directed by Godzilla-director Gareth Edwards and be written by Gary Whitta, who was one of the writers of Telltale's The Walking Dead game (Season 1).
OMG? OMG!
(also, hilarious though it is, shouldn't the title of this thread be changed to something more descriptive?)

Nah - I think Are You Effing Kidding Me is appropriate now more than ever.
