It's almost an hour of Plinkett criticising it with his droll antics and voice that seems to come from having his chin buried in his throat, as per usual. He's got some fair points - it's not a perfect movie, after all. But I don't see how comparing TLJ to a comedy like National Lampoon is valid criticism, considering other dramatic movies that utilise randomness/weak judgement/cause and effect - like Babel, for instance - do the exact same thing and mine a decent story out of it.
And not to go too meta, but if you're going to argue that a movie that was 2 and a half hours long should have been an hour and 45, maybe try making that point in a critique that could have lasted 15 minutes instead of 58.

Ah well, if he's moaning about length, at least that's a novel tack, given that 95% of the criticism seems to be THIS MOVIE CONTAINS TOO MANY WIMMIN AND COLOREDS!!111

YEAH MAN AND THAT OTHER ASIAN GIRL SHOULD'VE SURVIVED INSTEAD OF THE CHUBBY ONE, BECAUSE SHE WAS WAY HOTTER!!1

Honestly though, didn't they both have some sort of ying-yang necklace and isn't that just shoehorning in stuff to appeal to Chinese audiences, just like setting part of a crappy Transformers film in China was, or having The Meg take place off China with Chinese companies/love interest and beaches?

Great review. Made for good watching.
I just can't watch an hour long review. I think the whole trend of 45 minute dissections of 2.5min trailers and reviews that are as long as a TV episode is dumb AF.

He was reviewing a 2 and a half hour movie though. A one hour review to me is reasonable.
The Last Jedi was a complete train wreck. Kylo and Rey bits were great. Rest was meh. So much needing fixing in the next one. I'll still go see it at the cinema, even though I skipped the Han Solo one. Owe it to my love of Star Wars to see this through to the end. Even the prequels ended on a high point, so I'm hoping for something similar.
If they did a Obi Wan prequel with Ewan Mcgregor in the job, that'd be interesting.

Is there an equation for this then?
Every film or TV show has some companion effort trying to review and dissect it to the nth degree and most of them appear to be the most anti-intellectual nonsense this side of idiocy.
Mark Kermode reviews things in 5 minutes, without spoiling them. Whatever happened to that being enough?

Well there's reviews and there's reviews. You'll find plenty of 5 min reviews of The Last Jedi whose primary function is to inform the audience if the movie is worth shelling out the price of admission for. The Plinkett video is more of a critique. It assumes you've already seen the movie, so it's full of spoilers. It's purpose is not to be viewing-advice, but rather to dig into the guts of the movie and figure out what worked and what didn't.
Personally, I love the Plinkett videos and wouldn't mind if they were 3 hours long.

Also hey if you think Plinkett is bad, get a loada (
http://www.starwarsminute.com/) The Star Wars Minute. A podcast where the hosts spend ~40 minutes each episode dissecting one minute of a Star Wars movie. (I haven't listened to it, but it tickles me to know it exists)

One hour review is way, way too much. There's a great value in being concise and not wasting your words, and your viewers' time.

It's one hour of QUALITY TENT (content). I don't wanna hear any more complaining about it. YOU'LL WATCH IT AND LIKE IT. >:|

You're notorious for liking, well, everything... And I'm already past high school or uni, so killing time is the last thing I need. Life's too short and busy. One-hour episode of a TV series, or a documentary, yeah, that's quality content. Good critics don't need more than 15 minutes, even when we're talking panel discussions. Canal+ or Cinema+ had such talks with 2-3 movie critics, I don't think they were ever longer than 10 minutes. One-hour critique of one movie, by one guy, it just one blah movie fan not knowing when to shut up.
