Just to go one step further I'd say noone ever has...
If you are male, female or someone in between, everyone has his own favorites and a unique way of playing them, but I refuse to agree that there are "girl's" or "boy's" games ;)

As far as I can tell there's not. If you spend any time over on womengamers.com there's a huge variety of tastes among women players, same as there is with the male gamers.
There's more of a gap between 'children's games' and 'adult games', I think, than between genders. As you say, everyone has their own favourites and style of playing, and I've seen guys happily playing games I would have said would be more likely to appeal to women than guys, and women happily playing games I'd have sworn no woman would touch. So. . .yeah, I think it comes down more to personality, style and what happens to appeal to the individual at the moment.
The only 'difference', I think, is in some games you can really tell what the 'intended' audience was. In others its decently balanced.

Hyper-sexualized female characters and macho men are pretty much catering to males, and not really respectful to the ladies, but that doesn't mean the game is intolerable to females, and there are males who are tired of that as well.

Yeah, thats what I was referring to. :) I think those are targeted more at teens than adults.
Its not a total turn of. A bit of a sigh and an 'oh brother, here we go again' reaction, but most of us still play.
Personally I DO like having attractive characters. I mean, if I'm going to spend hours looking at them, I want them to at least be visually nice to look at. But this does not mean super-sexualized or unrealistic. It could simply be a nice face and a physique to match whatever they are doing.
They really could use a bit more targetting at the normal adult instead of teens.
I still wish I had a clue how to make a game. I think I could make a good one - given the knowledge. . .and enough help. :)

We FM-building-illiterates welcome you along the bandwagon. Unisex, as I myself can't stand those macho characters in video games... Garret isn't too macho, do ya think?
(Even if Duke Nukem 3D is fun, I'm rather glad 3D Realms folded, so I don't have to have images of seeing Duke blowing into chunks running through my head... that ******!)

Add Penumbra to that list, loads of atmosphere, puzzles, dark, creepy, thief like. A game all its own. I'm enjoying it.
Oh and Vampire Masquerade Bloodlines, and Undying, and Alice. :P
Seconded, especially Penumbra ! :thumb:

To answer the question as asked. YES! At least for me. Some of us taffers aren't sure.
