I tend to post so rarely that the name never even occurs to me. Also, this is a message board to me first and foremost. I *do not* take any of this seriously. Nothing personal, sorry... hehe, awwww but lookie here!!! I'm so glad you mentioned the Penumbra games. Those are absolutely awesome games and it's a shame they're not more well-known.

MissyK, Thief 2 does run on Vista. Tell us your system specs. Could be a dual core issue, also tell us what is going on exactly.

MissyK, it sounds like you like many of the same types of games as I do. Yes, even the Nancy Drew ones. They are fun, especially if you have a walkthrough to get you over some of those maddening puzzles. :)
And yes, Thief 2 does run on Vista. I got it to run on my mom's laptop without a quibble. The next thing we have to worry about is Windows 7.

I just got it running, finally, after putting in the cccp codecs. Although I was stupid and changed the resolution, so I can't see my esc menu, and if I manage to open the objectives, the mouse gets stuck on the upper half of the screen. I can fix that in the cfg or ini file---I'll find it tomorrow.
Anyway, I've got a Core 2 Quad 2.33/2.34; 8G ram; 64 bit; ATI 4650. I set it to 2000 compatibility (98 gave me black screen, and I never did get it running completely right under XP) and I run it as admin...start and set to 1 cpu and high priority.
I'm just waiting for my free upgrade to Win7 (just bought this sys). I really hate vista, and knew there'd be a lot of hoops to jump through just to play. If I can get it going ok, I'm going to start dl'ing fm's like crazy. I have a 1Tb drive to fill :cheeky:
