Got this link from Purah today ... (

They seem cautiously optimistic, saying that in spite of the dealbreaker with EA they've got their own projects to work on. So let's all knock on wood or say a prayer for these guys that they can still see some good times in these bad times. As I understand it, The Crossing was their own property to do with as they please, and of course so is Arx. The title they were working on with EA was unannounced.

I'm selfishly hopeful that this means they'll start pushing The Crossing more and we'll get some more information about it soon.
On a professional note, this economy is sucking a lot more for games developers and publishers than it should, and the publishers are growing much more risk averse as a result. A developer like Arkane is probably going to take a bigger hit, just because they tend more toward unproven and less commercially guaranteed game ideas.

Can't say I'm surprised really. Riccitiello reverted to type pretty much as soon as he walked back in EA's front door and all the press around EA's big quarterly loss and announced redundancies suggested anything with the risk of being slightly original was going to go bye bye in favour of typical EA Title: Year Digits fare.
And I doubt the rather slack sales of Dead Space helped much either.

I suppose these news are attributed to the Arkane Austin project, right? The one where Harvey Smith is creative head... What, another DX:Invisible Fail gets us spared? :sly:
I sure as hell hope however that Crossplayer will see the day of light eventually.
