I'm really looking forward to Arma2. However, I suspect there will be a lag in community transition once it's released unless Arma2 somehow manages to incorporate all the incredible features the recently released Advanced Combat Environment mod does. It was the same with OFP + Wargame Leagues Mod being better than Arma on release. Bohemia's initial offerings are historically rough at the edges, but oh radiant glory once polished.
I'm pretty sure that transiting ArmA mods to ArmA 2 will be fairly easy. However I would also like to see Bohemia releasing their game so polished that it doesn't need any modding at all (except for new units of course). Console owners won't be getting user made mods anyway so they better make the initial game as good as possible to keep the public servers mod free.

With OFP it took me a long time to get into the game. What finally did it was the story - it wasn't great, but it kept me engaged for long enough to appreciate what the game was doing.
Apart from the bugs, that's really what's kept me from enjoying ArmA. Perhaps if I was more into multiplayer I would have appreciated the game, but as it is it felt like a hollow single-player experience compared to its predecessor.

Rumour has it that the game has already been completed, but it's been delayed because OFP2 doesn't release until August-September. In the meantime they're making ArmA 2 compatible with ACES, or so the rumour goes.

ACES? What is't? (Is it of interest to the single-player crowd?)

The spiritual successor of OFP's Wargame mod for ArmA. Ironpants mentioned it in his post.

Don't start this. It doesn't suit you. We're much too used to you reposting shit from various RSS feeds than contributing something
original.

Bitching about someone's lack of originality is one of the least original things imaginable.

Never said I was original. I'm a hypocrite, but I call 'em as I see 'em.
