Apologies if this has been asked before, but is it possible to make the fire and gas arrows in T1/T2 to have a proper ballistic trajectory like the other arrows? I always thought it strange that these two specifically have a flat trajectory.

I always assumed they were set up that way because the fire/gas acts like a thruster when fired and carry it over short distances without arc. But anyway, it's easy to do but requires Dromed to edit the gamesys file.

Thrust? Are you serious!? ;)
I just think it would be cool to have all arrows acting the same way. And I'd love to be able to lob fire and gas arrows into opponents rather than having to watch them slowly (in fire's case) rocket their way to the target.
Can someone make me this mod? Please!

I believe, lore-wise, the reason is the arrows are magical in nature and take on the properties of the element they embody, hence gas and fire arrows are lighter than air and can fly.
But yeah, I'm sure it can be changed easily.

Well, it can be changed in the default gamesys, so it will work with OMs and any FM that uses the default dark.gam, but won't work in any FM that uses a custom gamesys (and most newer ones do).

a dml mod will.

D'oh! Right you are. I don't know to write one, but it should be easy enough to figure out. And it should just be changing one property on the firearrow and gasarrow archetypes.

firearr (-234) and GasArrow (-2531)
Set Physics->Model->Attributes: Gravity to 66%... or just delete the property and let them inherit from the Projectile archetype.

Well if someone could make me the mod, I'd be very grateful. I've done a lot of game modding before but never for Thief... and don't really want to get into it as I get addicted.
For Thief 1 and 2, preferably.
Thanks!

I've always believed it to be about precision. Broadhead/Water arrows are cheap, and you can you use up those resources quite easily through bad aim as I guess many players did, first time around. Gas/Fire arrows are expensive and scarce resources, and I presume the devs didn't want to frustrate players by having those items used up too quickly, again, through bad aim. A straight trajectory gives you far more precision in times of need than the usual arcing path, and consequently helps the player preserve those precious resources.
