If not, can someone tell me what I need and how to do it?
I'm determined to do this mod now. I'm surprised such a simple thing hasn't been thought of and done before.

Just because something may be simple to do doesn't mean there is any need for it.

I don't have TFix installed, can I just create a USERMODS folder in my game folder?

you will need to add the folder to the mod_path in your cam_mod.ini as well. or you could just patch up with TFix. you know, like the rest of the world.

No need to get sarcastic. I've never had the need to use TFix before and don't normally care to add all the new effects, etc. Simpler is better, especially with so many mesh and texture mod packages available.

well, if you are running the GOG release you already are using parts of it, and any other version (cd, steam, etc) needs to be patched with TFix anyway to avoid breaking stuff (as mentioned many times, installing NewDark manually will not cut it). so it's not like you have a choice, really.

Well, actually, I do have a choice. I have CD versions for T1/TG/T2 and am using a simple 'Fixed EXE' for TG and can't remember for T2... but no TFix or anything else like that. And yes I have Windows 7.

well, not sure what kind of fixed exe it is, but unless it's NewDark in some form, the mod I've posted won't work. so you either hop into the bandwagon, or no pretty shiny stuff for you.
