Well... take a look at (
http://www.arkane-studios.com/) http://www.arkane-studios.com/ and your question might be answered. I believe I read somewhere the ARX developers were heavily influenced by UW, but that ARX isn't directly connected. Something about creating a game that gives the same playing experience, but by modern standards. I don't remember the exact words, but being a great UW fan myself I thought "wow, this is a game I have to buy".

Well I'm a fan ... or maybe a UW fanatic... And i've been waiting for something with the same depth of gameplay... Hopefully ARX does it or I'll abandon gameplay for good :]
