<strong>Arx Fatalis Patch</strong> <small>[09:42 AM EST (Blue) November 01, 2002] - <a href="http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/board.pl?action=viewthread&threadid=38352" target="_self">6 Comments</a></small> <br>A new patch for Arx Fatalis is now available, updating Arkane Studios' RPG to version 1.14. The patch improves overall stability, NPC balance, and EAX sound card compatibility and addresses some minor bugs. The patch is available for the <a href="http://www.arxfatalis-online.com/index_eng.php">English</a>, <a href="http://www.arxfatalis-online.com/index_france.php">French</a>, and <a href="http://www.arxfatalis-online.com/index_german.php">German</a> versions of the game.

YES!!! I was just thinking to myself, "Gosh, if this game ever comes out, I sure hope it doesn't have unbalanced NPCs."

As many others have posted on other boards, I also experience the error with two files not unpacking. Anyone have any information on this?

Paldarion,
This is a known intermittent problem (i.e. it doesn't affect all players but has been reported on all language versions). I had it myself. The problem is simply that 2 of the game files are left Read Only after the installation and can't be patched.
There are usually 2 files that the patcher can't extract correctly. I think they are data.pak and loc2.pak or something like that. In any case, write down the names and then open your Windows Explorer. Go to the Arx Fatalis directory and right click on one of the files then select Properties. Make sure that the Read Only property for that file is unchecked then press OK.
Repeat the same procedure with the second problematic file.
Now you can reapply the patch and it should work fine.
Hope this helps,

The nerve of JoWood, actually hosting a game patch themselves!!! I would rather search through mirror lists for a site that doesn't require a fee and/or registration.
