Can people choose their character's sex in ARX?
homme/femme ?
If there is not, is that because there is too much voice acting in the game to allow for both voices for each dialogue. This was why Deus Ex didn't give the choice.

Replay,
you're correct, unfortunately letting the player choose between male and female would represent way to much work in term of animations, various outfits (armors mainly), and most of all the speech.

Anyway, who plays women?

http://www.ttlg.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gifI mean, that's not really the sex of the character that matters. In Tomb Raider, it's a woman but I really don't care about her boobs. The only interest is to find secret places and kill monsters (in TR) so I don't care about the character.
But... In coop mode, it would have been better if players did not look all the same...
At least try to allow the players to choose their face and the color of hair and flesh... These are just texture changes (no modification for the models, so no modification for armors)

Who plays women?
Well, I've known female players who'd like to, just to become more of 'themselves' in a game. Yeah, it'd be a bitch to really model, but maybe putting the option for it in there might be worth the effort, if only to show a desire to accomadate a wider range of players who want to truly create their own persona.

I have to agree. In alot of games women are kinda slighted. My husband says it's because most games are programed by men. Now I firmly believe that the amount of women players has gone up, and will continue to. I think that a woman has just as much right to play a character that is female, as a man has a right to play a male character. In RPG's you are supposed to be "Drawn" into the game world, and become attached to your character...making choices for them as if you yourself were really there....which is hard to do when the character you are playing does not fit into (Genderwise) your persona. I have played male characters, and I hate to say it...but they end up sounding like Homosexuals ;P Why? Because I am female, I think like a female, I act like a female, therefore my characters end up taking on my personality. Running Male characters has always made me feel uncomfortable. I would much rather have the choice of gender.

Actually, I agree with you. It's preferable to be able to identify to your character.
I was just trying to explain that it's not that important. And that if they can't model many characters, that won't be a big problem for me.
But, technically (written mainly for Raf)... If they can model 1 mesh of a character, I think, it's not hard to move vertices to make thinner, taller, fatter characters... So they could make women, big guys, small ones, etc... If the armors take the same deformations (keeping the same (u,v) texture coordinates at vertices), they can put 1 model of armor onto any character (well, this needs a try to be proven though).
