If the results of that poll prove to be unsuccessfull, then perhaps we should start throwing around some suggestions. Or maybe even run some small competition where the person with the best name wins a prize such as original art memorabillia from the game, or something cool like that.

Am Shagar, why it doesn't work.
the word Shag means fuck in England, if it gets reviewed in England, they'll take the piss out of the name out of the main charcture.
It reads like I'm a shager, or I'm a fucker.

Means sort of the same thing in the states (thanks to Austin Powers).

It means the same thing down under. All they needed was an I in front and it becomes I Am Shagar, which is not always a bad thing I guess.

"Am Shagar" flows off the tongue. It's fun to say. "Am Shagar, Am Shagar." Nevertheless I don't care for it. Reminds me too much of "Shadar Logoth" in Wheel of Time, an evil place. The name kind of sounds evil to me. The first word, "Am," is the English first person present tense form of "to be." Like "I Am Shagar." Kind of twists my mind just a bit.

I thought, Arx being an RPG, you chose your own character name at the beginning. (Didn't really get into the character generation at the E3 demo)

Whatever name you choose, I think the name should perfectly fit the ARX atmosphere and the background of your character, as the player sees and feels it. Thats why everyone chooses his/her own fantasyname at the beginning of the game. That is why the characters name is so important (more so because there is only one player), and because you want to identify yourself whith that character. Thats why i voted against Am Shagar, i just can't put that name and ARX together (no offense meant of course). Why not explain why that name was chosen?

Hi all, I realise that this name poll triggered various interogations and one is "why can't we choose the name ?".
Well, there is an extremly good reason plotwise, but I can't obviously explain now, because I don't want to reveal anything before you can play the game. The strange 'oriental' nature of the name has also a reason to be as it is, so we won't change the concept of the name itself, but we'll find a solution about this possible confusion with a swear word in english some of you mentioned, and thx for spotting it by the way, it isn't always easy to check on names in every languages. I hope these 'vague' informations will be helpful.

I like the name lots. I put the emphasis on the "gar" (comes out more like "sh'gar") and hadn't even noticed the "shagger" thing, but possibly it's a valid criticism. A shame... it's a nice name.
