Wow, just hit Wikipedia... there are like 9000 AC games. What the fuck? This seems to be Ubi's Call of Duty, what with it being crammed down our throats twice a year.
I owned the original on 360 and originally liked it, but it wore thin rather quickly. I think I'd like the 'faffing about Creed" titles more, as I found myself bored and with nothing really fun to do (the missions seemed trite and boring) except find Vistas and shit like that. The world was gorgeous and fun to explore, but there was little reason to do so, and the missions/assassinations/radial shit was just monotonous and kinda bland. Dunno, I keep telling myself I'd like the 3rd one, but I hear crazy shit about these games like one of them having like a tower defense (my least favorite genre) section to the gameplay. Meh, I guess there are dozens of other titles/series to focus on, as life is way too short and my free time is way too precious these days (thank you 2nd job...) to play mediocre games.
I guess my dilemma is I just WANT to like this series so bad, but for one reason or another, just don't.

They've released an AC title annually the past few years, and I don't think anyone was expecting them to stop doing so.

Actually....don't really like a lot of them after the second.
The first two numbered games I liked because they did a very good job of immersing you into different time periods in history. While the adventure and plot were silly, the cities they were set in were very well researched. That combined with the developer focus on making the places feel busy gave you the impression thats what it must have actually looked like to walk through Jerusalem during the crusades or Firenze during the Renaissance.

A gameplay trailer. Honestly the land stuff looks like it's hardly changed since AC2.

I wonder if Ubisoft will single-handedly cause the disuse of the "if it ain't broke..." proverb.

Assassin's Creed is basically exhibit A that after 1-2 games a series either needs to do something different or die.

I've pretty much bought any AC game after 2 at big discount prices. Still waiting for a beefy sale on AC III.
But yeah, Ubisoft, change tune. Fuck's sake...

Tell you what, I have been playing the 3rd AssCreed for weeks. Probably 8-10 hours in, and I have yet to even play as the main character, let alone him as an adult... Jesus Christ, Ubi, get on with it. This game is SLOW>
