Ubisoft marketing says that it's going to "the most realistic video game ever." That's what they said about Brothers In Arms, which turned out to be something of a joke. Wait, they said Brothers In Arms was the most "authentic" game ever. Well, they can't claim, "We said 'authentic' not 'realistic' lol," after the fact this time. As for me, I'll be sure to check out any demos and videos, but I'm not rushing to the store to get it.

actually it was quite authentic
if the history lessons i've learned of the second world war from the zillion fps games of that era have any truth to them
that the entire north-western europe is one long corridor from caen to berlin

I hope it does play out like Thief/Splinter Cell/Tenchu but with a lot of exploration etc.

No, it wasn't. I speak as a shooter; the realism of the aiming system is horrible (even accounting for adrenaline). Great idea, horrible implementation. Also, there are quite a few errors on the weapons themselves. But the whole thing wasn't a simulation, it was a game. It may have been a metaphorical "corridor" to Berlin, but they weren't hedged in by invisible walls!

Well, it certainly looked neat, though not... ehm, correct.
At the beginning he's just shoving people to get to his victim - totally the opposite of what would've been stealthy to do. If there was anyone watching out for assasins, they'd instantly notice a hooded, armed guy making his way purposefully toward an imortant person... if the assasin shoved people left and right, in any case.
I also think that while similar in style, the game and the (so far) obvious idea is the complete opposite of Thief....
For one, a character who only does what he's being ordered to do by an organisation of 'peace-keepers' doesn't seem nearly as interesting as one who does everything in his power NOT to be ordered around. It's probable, though, that later in the game this Altair would get sick of killing people for his nameless superiors and being a simple tool and would rebel... But if I'm right, that means the game is too predictable... :D
Secondly, according to the trailer the concept is 'get within striking distance, kill them, and show heel'.
To be more precise, I consider Thief a non-violent game. The point is to be as sneaky as possible, and at your best leave as few signs of your passage as possible... I mean, on expert you actually aren't allowed to kill anyone!
So a game where to end objective is always killing a person rather than stealing a certain object seems pretty violent, and I'm not completely sceptical about violent games having a certain negative influence on underage players.
I'm underage myself, and while I consider my psyche to be pretty stable in that regard, I can't imagine my parents being that confident, and I can hardly slip a game into the household without them noticing...
For me, the matter is academical anyway, as I don't have a PC3...

Didn't you hear the guy yell, "Guards!" as soon as the assassin started shoving in earnest?

um
nobody is forcing you to play the way they play in the video
the video is like that cos it looks good (and the "touching" technology does look awesome)
it's said to be a cross of thief, hitman and gta, so i would fully expect it to allow player to play the game any damn way he pleases, as do all the fore mentioned games
