From what I'm hearing it's got some early game hooks that fade with repetition and lack of variety. In any case, until they release the PC port I'll know very little.

Well from what i've seen from the demo videos it does look very impressive visually, and frankly the climbing and jumping looks a lot like Prince of Persia, and I wish Thief 3 had climbing like this.
The reviews I've read do mention that the ending is pretty out there so I guess I won't be surprised if you end up being some alien from the future or the actual angel of death sent to earth by God or something crazy like that.
But I guess if your like Theif and Prince of Persia chances are you'll like Assassin's Creed.

Then what the fuck was this butting-in "chill out dude don't attack the guy" post? In fact, don't bother answering. Please.
Does anybody else see the irony in this?

I just watched a gameplay video of it on Youtube. At first, I thought no manual jumping was absolutely retarded. However, after seeing the video, I'm impressed. It looks like it will work, and work well. Some people won't like it, but I'm pretty sure I will.
Here's a link to the video.

That looked like a fun console game. Not much else to say.

i had very high hopes for this game.
but it seems they did not do many of the little things which make such games worth (re)playing, like looting houses/stealing in the streets and sidemissions which don't necessarily
belong to the overall story but the atmosphere. when I read about repetetive missions I think PrinceOfPersia again.
I loved POP for its platforming but hated its combat. I was never that motivated to end it. well, it still sounds interesting enough to pick up on PC when cheaper.
in the end, this could be a very good game, I enjoyed many bad reviewed games and hated many good reviewed ones.

So what is the verdict for those who already bought the game?
Also, regarding the repetitive complaint in some of the reviews, i have to ask: aren't all games repetitive? For example, Thief is basically the same gameplay concept from start to finish, but it is so fantastically fulfilling that one doesn't mind.
i'm still on the fence for this one. i have half a mind to trade in the Orange Box (since TF2 is so laggy) for this, another half a mind to just buy it outright, and a conscience that is telling me to wait for the price to drop.

I think the last third-person actiony sort of game that I really enjoyed was Max Payne, and this is a far cry from that. I dunno - Prince of Persia didn't do anything for me. This might be better. I'll probably get it when I get a 360 and the price for the game comes down ($60 is crazy).

I don't know if it's worth anything, but Gabe from Penny arcade seems to know why reviewers thought it repetitive. A good read anyways.
