She was on TV last night. She didn't appear to be just a pretty face for the camera. She also made a valid point : when you want to market your game, you don't get the dev that's knee deep in engine code; you get the producer. (There's a new game produced by Clive Barker? Expect to see a lot of Clive Barker. That sort of thing)
But of course, this is the internet/gaming industry, so girls don't exist.

This game looked meh to me when I first saw the screens and whatnot. Then more info came out and I thought it was starting to look good. Then more info arrived and it was one to watch. Yet more info and it was on my list of "If reviews are good get this."
Then Jade started to show up and at first I started thinking "She's a cute member of a dev team. Game still looks good" and eventually "Hmmm. What is going on here? I haven't seen Warren Spector or Ken Levine this much and I was an avid watcher of both TDS and BS."
THEN she was all over the place and yeah it's partly the media being drooling twits but I started thinking "What is wrong with this game that they need this fitty talking about it all the time with her face where a screenshot should be."
And you can't really blame anyone for thinking that. In the end it's not her fault because I don't really think that she meant to market the game with her yummy face. But if she did then more fool her.

The picture of her with the rest of the team annoyed me, but then I'm easily annoyed. Reason? She was standing 5 paces in front of the rest of the team, as if to say "I'm the captain of this ship. I'm in charge."
Now whether or not that was her doing, or the PR people, makes no difference. She was happy to stand there, and basically belittle her team by having them stand in a big lump in the background.
I would have been embarassed to do the same.

Of course they used her to help market the game. I MUCH prefer to look at her than some male geek. It's smart sales tactics. :D

I'm sure she would have been embarassed too. It's like when bands take a picture, the singer is usually out in the front. Sure the rest of the band might feel a bit down about it but at the end of the day they will know (as will the game developers) that its all about marketing. As long as the person who gets singled out doesn't get all big headed the rest of the team or band won't hold it against that person.

Exactly. It's just the things are. If she was lording it over them, that's a different story.

But they usually DO get all Bigheaded (David Lee Roth Syndrome)...that's the problem.

No, not usually. There are a lot more who don't than those who do. It's just that the ones who do are much more noticeable.

The funny thing is with DLR (who was always big-headed) is that the focus was always on Eddie Van Halen who didn't like the attention himself (a good example of the person who is singled out not letting it go to their head). DLR being the egomaniac that he is always had trouble accepting that Eddie was the star that people were interested in.
