I could have guessed that. It's interesting to see just how much of an improvement it is, not insanely, but yeah, definitely noticeable.
I want to hear more of what people like / don't like / think about the gameplay. As far as the marketing goes, I only ever noticed the trailers and didn't care much whether Jade was there or not ... and don't have any opinion about it, really. I'm interested in hearing more about the game now that it's out already.

It looks like the biggest/only issue is the contrast, or am I missing something?

Q for Hidden_7 or anyone who is playing AC and is further in more than 1 assassination: do all, or most, assassinations end up forcibly with you causing a commotion and being chased down by guards or is it possible, gamewise, not exploiting a bug, to kill your target and blend quickly so you go "la dee daa"? (I know that by the trailers, save the teaser, it's probably all about you killing, being chased and -then- blending/dissapearing, but still...had to ask.

stealth assassinations/instant crowd blending are possible.
I've seen it in a gameplay vid of the retail version.
he did not jump from the sky onto the target, he blended, walked up, killed him from behind timed to beating of a bell or drums and blended back in, walked around the corner and left the crime site while all ppl there just started getting mad.
a friend played 4 hours and said that after the initial rush it gets boring quick ;(
I hope his opinion sucks 'cause I had hopes for the PC version.

Are his athletic skills comparable to Prince of Persia ? Can you climb everything ?
Does this make escaping the guards extremely easy ?
mothra on 27/11/2007 at 13:32
afaik it was stated you could climb ANYTHING. i did not hear something different until then. don't know about the rest.
Bad Breath Dude on 27/11/2007 at 15:05
Speaking of the PC version, when do we get that?
mothra on 27/11/2007 at 16:14
play lists it as February 15th 2008, but it's unconfirmed.
i bet it's a phantasy date made up by an intern.
all i heard up till now officially are the words "beginning 2008" and "start of 2008"

The only thing he can't climb are things that humans couldn't climb. That is, if there's some kind of visible handhold (and this is a very broad definition of handhold) he can climb it.
The repitition critcism depends on how much you like the core gameplay / are interested in the story. Yeah, gameplay wise, it doesn't really get mixed up too much, it's the same thing but harder, in different environments, for the most part, but I was entertained throughout.
His athletic abilities are notably less than the Prince of Persia. In fact, I would say Altair's abilities are very grounded in reality. It's the kinda thing you could see yourself doing with just a little more practice/conditioning (this isn't really a realistic opinion, but it's one I felt often), whereas the Prince has a lot of things where it's like "oh, no way!"
As an example, you can't run a couple metres laterally along a wall. You can't bounce off of one wall onto another, rebound off of that wall and so on ad infinitum. You CAN run directly up a wall a pretty reasonable distance, and rebound off that wall. There's no doing cartwheel flips over and off of enemies. It's more parkour than free-running, if people know what I mean and will forgive my terribly lame comparison. His shit is less intuitively impressive, but he does have a high degree of freedom, especially with his climbing.
As for escaping the guards, noting that most of what Altair does is pretty realistic and stuff you could see as achievable with training by the average person, the guards can do a lot of what he does and keep up pretty well. They can scramble up low walls, jump over buildings, they will climb ladders, etc. They can't do some of this stuff as fast as Altair can, but they do keep up. Their run is somewhere between Altair's run and his sprint. So, escaping guards isn't always effortless.
