*Grumbles*
Killed my second target, Talar (or somesuch, dude with the bow), and this time I -didn't- even get a proper chance to surprise him to kill him stealthily :( (still having a ball, though :D).

Man, this game is boring. Terrible one-button combat system, and the pre-assassin missions are tedious and repetitive as hell. I've only made it to the 4th target, but are there any assassination missions that don't involve killing your target and then either running like hell or easily slaughtering all the surrounding guards? Maybe I was expecting something a bit more complicated like the hitman games.

That's the real let-down with the game.
All of the hype about "Social Stealth", and Hitman just does it better, full stop, and did it better years before Assassin's Creed was a glimmer in Ubisoft's eye.
But I still like the game, as it's just got a nice feel to it. They just need to add a bit of variety and plagiarise a few ideas from other stealth titles.
I do like the implication that at some point in the series you'll get to play around in a near-future city.

I could have guessed that. It's interesting to see just how much of an improvement it is, not insanely, but yeah, definitely noticeable.
To tell you the truth, to me the Xbox 360 version looks better.

I think that's what he was getting at.

Yeah, I thought the whole gag from the beginning was it's obviously the Xbox 360 -- you could predict that before you even watch it. DX-455 was being playfully coy about it, and I was playing along with the gag.

It's not one button combat, where did you get that idea from? You mean there is only one "attack" button? Yeah, I suppose you're right, there is only one button which you press to attack. Even so pressing it and holding it do different things. I think to call the "combat" one button is an oversimplification of "there is one attack button." There is often just one "fire" button in shooters, this in no way means that the combat is "one button" or the implied "simplistic."
Yeah the investigation stuff can be repetative. It either bothers you because you don't like the core gameplay or story or both, or it doesn't, because you do. If you don't like the core gameplay then that's cool, you don't like the game, fair, but plenty of games are "repetative" in that you do the same stuff over and over again, and are still good. I happen to think AC is one of them.
It is kind of a shame about the social stealth element, in that it was at times advertised as a stealth game. Well, I don't think it was actually, but it wouldn't be hard to make that inference from some of the released info. If that's what you were expecting, that sucks, because, yeah, that isn't this game. I don't however think that since Assassin's Creed fails as a stealth game it fails as a game, since I'm not fully convinced it was supposed to be a stealth game. It seems pretty firmly an action game to me. Which I do think it succedes at. Though I could see some deceptive advertising being responsible for misasumptions.

You got it.

i liked this game at first, but now i'm dead tired of it. It is repetitive, repetitive, REPETITIVE. Most games are repetitive by nature, but this one is over the top in a repetitive way. i fell asleep last night playing i was so bored.
Also, i would say this game has little to nothing to do with stealth. It is an action game with some coerced stealth aspects to it.
This game can still be fun, but fun in a "maybe i'll play that again someday" type of way, not in a "wow that was so damn cool i want to see it again" type of way.
