Wow I can't believe all the negativity here. I just got it a couple of days ago and installed it yesterday morning. I couldn't turn it off till late in the night. I thought it was amazing, and I'm not nearly done. And those that say there is no stealth aren't playing the game right. You even have special stealth assassination side-missions, but you can use the hidden blade and stealthy kill most of your targets. And I found the ease of climbing a lot of fun; were there many buttons involved it'd be a pain, especially if you made it to the top of the cathedral in Acre and then fudged a button and fell to your doom. I think it's an excellent and fun game and those expecting more than that will be disappointed.

I've had Assassins Creed for quite a while now; I'm perhaps 1/3rd of the way into it.
My 2c:
My main criticism, as others seem to have pointed out, is that it can get very repetitive, especially if you start doing all the "Save Citizen" missions. Now that the initial novelty has worn off, I still think it's amazing to look at, and it's nice in short doses - but an hour or two at most, methinks. I think I'll finish it, but not any time soon.

It's not like anyone's forcing you to do all the boring side missions. I took a faster approach to the game, only doing the necessary number of investigations and then instantly going after the target, and it's actually still fun after the fourth assassination.

2 questions Ulu. (I haven't played it btw)
1. Do you think they could have utilised the cities more? PC Gamer reckon they are expansive.
2. Can I borrow a few million ISK in August please?
Ulukai on 28/4/2008 at 22:05
They are expansive, but disappointingly full of the same generic NPCs. So you can collect flags. Boring.
Assassin's Creed could have been GTA with Templars and Horses and Swords and Fighty Men. Don't get me wrong, I like it, I love the atmosphere, but to my mind the cities are a wasted opportunity. For example, I'd like to see things like being able to discover NPCs who would sell rare and expensive Assassin's swords from a secluded market stall, or using the vertical nature of the game to sneak into otherwise hidden rooms.
Secondly, I'm afraid I'm down to my last 1.5 Billion ISK in liquid assets, and I'm not renewing my subscription this month.

I have yet to come across anybody that managed to complete ANY of the ass. missions being stealthy. The whole gamemechanic after the assasination FORCES you to flee, you don't have any other choice.
for others to understand, in AC the term stealth is being used for:
ramming knives into the backs of people, illustrated thru the soundtrack by a LOUD HIGH-PITCHED IMPACT SOUND......(very stealthy sounding, yeah, yeah) and afterwards all of the NPCs go apeshit and round around for the next minutes ripping out their hair .... or just plain attacking you.
the devs actually think that running across town, being chased by dozens of soldiers, being shot at with arrows and after killing a few you can .... hide in a rooftop garden ... and that's stealth in AC. btw, what lame stupid townwatch would NOT check at the only possible location one could hide. at least in thief it was dark (lol) and they couldn't see you. no no. playing the game "stealthy" is not possible in any way.
after doing the first mission for 3 times and realizing that stealth is not an option, i changed to altair, the slaughterer: run straight to Ass.Bureau, then just kill everybody (after 7-12 enemies it should cool down)
even hitman had more brains than that game.
I'm no man for sports games so just climbing around doesn't give me anything, especially if its just "hold button and point in general direction"

Hm, that's strange because I constantly use the hidden blade to assassinate guards and no one notices me. Depending on how they're standing I can even dispatch of two thugs harassing a citizen before the others notice, and then I draw my sword. Even walking the streets I can knife a passing guard and keep walking and nobody will suspect me. Same with rooftop guards, just wait until their back is turned and pounce on them, or simply walk up and stab them. So there's plenty of stealth.

Me too poroshin, but I tend to knife the first citizen-harassing guard, then draw my sword and play Zorro with the others. :D

I really enjoyed it. Mind you, it's not the kind of game I'd play for 10 hours straight, but that's alright. In fact, I enjoyed it perhaps even more for that- I got 2 weeks entertainment out of it. Perfect for me, being busy at school. I can understand how you would get bored with repetition if you have lots of free time, though.
So, fights are ridiculously unreal. But so much fun...

Firstly: Mothra, basic grammar; basic grammar, Mothra. I'm sure you two can have a long and fruitful relationship.
Secondly, you can do stealthy assasinations in this game, as I pointed out before, you just need to have the patience and try and figure it out. I don't really understand why you would not want to flee the scene of an assasination when you are trying to stay stealthy. And you really don't have to flee, it just involves an epic amount of fighting.
