Got bored after about the first two hours of play.
There is about as much stealth in AC than the pretentious Hitman series.
Another over-hyped game with a bad case of consolitis.
:erg:
I didn't really follow AC news prior to its release; was it being touted as a stealthy game?

Yes, but it's not the type of stealth a Thief player would be used to. It's more hiding in plain sight with the occasional got to run and hide bit.

You really don't need to hide though (unless you need to for totally arbitrary game mechanic reasons) since you're apparently the greatest swordfighter in history and enemies are completely incapable of attacking simultaneously.

Incidentally, Wikipedia (I know, I know) claims that hashshashins were generally careful to kill their targets in as public a place a possible, to reinforce their fearsome reputation. The game may be forcing that public deaths in order to be more historically accurate.
Its not just wikipedia, as I have read multiple book sources backing that up.
Their assasinations were always performed in a public place, during broad daylight, with a dagger.

Oh god, my terrible fucking spelling is now quoted for all to see! :o
At least that makes me feel better about being useless at stealth.

i knew that as well and they acutaly emphasized the "public execution" in one of their demos but on the other hand always said that you have to arrive there without drawing attention. the gaming "reality" was that you just could kill every mf in the room with your sword and then suddenly the "cutscene" would play as if you just arrived totally stealthy. what a bummer. after the assassination it tells you to run for your life and escape. actually I just killed all the guys attacking me and then could take all the time in the world to get back to the ass. office. YAWN
Matthew on 29/1/2009 at 15:24
That's funny, with the heightened alert after the assassination I was constantly attacked on sight.

What are you playing it on? I've got it for the PS3 and the only way I die is by being attacked simultaneously. It happens alot.
Did you hide to change your status after the first fight(s) Matthew?
Matthew on 29/1/2009 at 16:53
No, I typically flail around like a deer in headlights going 'oh shit where's the nearest hideyhole' whilst attracting a metric fuckton of guards. I did say I was crap at stealth.
