(said by him one second before I took the screenie!)
All done Sterlino -
MAGNIFICO as usual! VERY fun! :thumb::thumb::thumb:
Gas mask was a hoot - get dumb as a doornail Mech to run after you, run into gas area - they follow, and die! :ebil: :cheeky: :laff:
Disintegration mines - just plain EEEEVIL! Kinda like wizards fire - not much left of the poor sukaz!
But - that 5 sec grenade - not all that great - took a few reloads till I was able to place it so that the guy did'nt move too far away for it to be a kill!
(one time - Mech was just far enough away so it ended up being a 5 sec FLASH grenade! it "blinded" him but that was all it did that time)

That diagram indicates the positions of the 4 number buttons you need to press, and the order in which to press them - starting position, then the 3 corner positions.

Hi. For the first time when playing T2 FMs I have come across the need to install custom scripts, especially for the beginning of this FM. :D
I have learned how to and what I need- after installing another gen.osm file, the door bug dissapeared, and I am yet to play it.
Just a general question (I have searched about it) about the scripts: I have installed Gaylesaver, Telliamed, NVScripts plus the convict- and gen.osm ones, all after Darkloader installed "The Gas". What happens when Darkloader loads another FM, are the .osm replaced/restored by original ones so that I have to install again these scripts in missions that require them? I have a backup ones, renamed gen.osm.old and so on.
Thanks.
EDIT: Finished the mission on Hard. For the first time I think in any mission, I actually got all the secrets :cheeky:, but did not make it into the Cryo room.
Excellent and very inovative mission. At first I did not like Mechanist missions, but Sterlinos mission has changed my mind.

Okay I guess maybe a dml is needed as I have all the scripts and even copied the newest ones into the fam mission directory. But I still can't get the door to open at the mission start room. I use new darkloader. I have the 1.9 gold version. The only funny thing I noticed is that the save games don't have the mission name just the time. Can anyone fix this?:confused:

I too am having problems with this one. The door opens at the start, but all names plates for doors and levers highlight but no text appears, which makes sensible progress in the game very difficult. Likewise a particualr object makes a sound when I pick it up from the box in the storage room, but the object cannot be found in my inventory or weapons and I think I need it to open a door. Presumably these problems are caused by the absence of one or more scripts. But why doesn't New Dark simply come with all the relevant scripts pre-loaded?

For anyone interested my issue was fixed by Unna. The answer was to delete all scripts in the fm directory. So a big thanks to Unna!

Because these scripts were not part of the original game. They have been written by fans, and afterwards were used by FM authors in their missions. The anonymous creator of NewDark most likely has some kind of source code from the original game, but maybe not the code for the scripts. And maybe The Raven just doesn't want to mess with these scripts from someone else (s)he doesn't know.
On the other hand, a player can evade a lot of trouble by using TafferPatcher to install NewDark, and the latest TafferPatcher versions allow the player to install the most commonly used scripts. And indeed, I have just tried "Assault on the Gas station" (v1.9 Gold) on a Thief 2 installation patched up with TafferPatcher 2.0.17, and the plates near the doors are shown automatically when highlighted. I have not reached the storage room, however, thus can't tell you anything about your boxed object so far.

I did install T2 using a recent version of Tafferpatch. I can't recall now whether I chose the scripts option and I don't know how to check, but the chances are that I would have selected that option having had problems with scripts in the past. Unfortunately it appears that Tafferpatch will not allow me to install the scripts on their own, I have to reinstall the whole game and I'm reluctant to try that. Another poster was advised to remove all scripts from the FM directory, but no detailed instructions have been shared. So I still don't know how to make this mission work properly.
