Friends if you have the love, and a few dollars to spare... read on,

One of our longtime and most high standing members, lovingly known to us as Fett (a.k.a. Dave Johnson) has a genetic heart disease called HCM (hypertrophic cardiomyopathy). It's a progressive disease that will require him to undergo heart transplant surgery in the near future. He is currently on the transplant waiting list at Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, PA.

Dave is a husband and father of two young boys. Over the course of three years, the family has relocated several times to explore lifesaving options at major medical centers. They have incurred a large amount of debt due to traveling, moving, and extended hospital admissions.

Currently he is being hospitalized for a week at a time every 6 weeks for testing and treatments which cause further expenses. This will continue until a heart becomes available, which doctors estimate could take one to two years.

The cost to the family above and beyond the insurance will be approximately $25,000 for the transplant procedure alone.

Dave and his family are grateful for all the contributions they have received so far. If you'd like to help, any donations will be greatly appreciated.

ANY amount is helpful, no matter how insignificant it may seem to you... it adds up. They've already raised $4,527 of their $10,000 goal just from people giving what they can.

I've known Dave for 14 years now, and he is one of the best people I've never met (hoping to rectify that soon at the next "in-the-works" TTLG meet). I'd give him my own heart if I didn't absolutely need it, which apparently I do. We've tragically lost several dear friends from TTLG over the years, and here's a chance to help save one, so that he can continue to be the high quality father, husband, musician and general goofball that he is.

@MsLedd - FYI, a lot of TTLGers gave after Fett posted (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=143856) this thread a few months ago, just so you know. Obviously no harm in more announcements though, especially for anyone who missed it the first time around.
