If you do decide to buy the german version, keep us posted on its pros and cons.
Absence of blood effects I can live with...
But, for instance, fading of bodies, or corruption of the introduction of the Ylsids, would not do the game any good IMHO.
ps.
I just saw Arx with bumpmapping in working order : I'm gonna buy a new vidboard!
I don't have the money yet, but maybe I can sell my body, or soul, or maybe rob a bank or something...

So this is what it feels like to live outside the US, eh?
I want my Arx, dammit!

Well, to be more precise the german version will still have blood effects and other things (i think we're still rated for 16+ audience) but very violent actions have been removed: cutting the head of your enemy, doing some nasty actions with NPC... able only on the international release.

Did you have to edit the textures, sprites etc (like it was done in System Shock2). or is it simple a switch hidden somewhere in an ini-file (like in Gothic)?
You see, I still got hope ;)
*Edit* Just read your last remarke about blood in the german version, Julien. That's a relief in a way. But still: are there any chances to "switch" the german version to the level of the international? Maybe a little hint? ;) *Edit end*
On the subject of fading bodies: I'm not absolutly sure about this, but didn't they fade away in the (international) demo already? This leads me to another question: if they do fade away, what happens to the stuff they carry with them and you didn't pick up? Does it vanish as well or does it fall on the floor? How will it be done in the final version?
Thanks
Bernd

The corpses WILL NEVER fade away in any of the versions.
PS: ... can't answer to the first question now... sorry :(

Arx is made in the same city I live !!!
The french version is certainly finished, and SHOULD BE RELEASED in JUNE too !!!!!!!
I should sneak in arkane's office and stole it :D
A friend of mine has done the internal (arkane) testing during one month and had finished the game numerous times. He was kind enough to avoid spoiling me !! :)
But he said there's no more big bugs when he leaved...
So : this is another commercial problem; like for gothic (we had to wait more than six month ). ( And there's more : you only can buy it online; not on a real shelve :( )

texts and voices are no doubt ready, but what about, the manual and... the CD itself ?
Do you think they have an hidden stock somewhere to prevent the world from running mad in discovering Arx ? yes it may need an investigation :ebil:
