Australia, Your Government Hates You: L4D2 Refused Classification - by june gloom

The Australian Classificiation Board is just retarded and probably full of uptight conservatives. Doesn't help that Michael Atkinson(may he die a horrible death) doesn't want to pass the law for R18 games. Ah well I guess there's always eBay and imports.

Sigh.
Is there a link to the ruling anywhere?

They may be retarded on videogame legislation, but it's still a better place to live than most of the Western world.

Cheers
I thought they made the rationale public, but I can't see it there (what the hell can it be? Violence? Surely not)

And Steam's gift function.

What I find rather annoying about the classification Board is the reasons why they ban some games. Like Risen for example, it was banned because it was very violent, drug use and because you can hire the services of a prostitute in the game. Now, correct me if I'm wrong here but this isn't exactly new. There have been dozens of games in the past few years that have had those elements and they weren't banned( the Witcher for example).

I'm sorry to break it to you guys, but Steam can automatically censor your games based on your IP, regardless of where your purchase originates from. Just ask German Steam users.
Eg imported retail copies of Sin Episodes Emergence from the UK/Hong Kong/wherever, are automatically patched into the censored version by Steam if it detects that you're in Germany.
