Well at least some politician found that R18+ discussion paper. It's o unfair that books and films have all the proper ratings whereas games are singled out for criticism. Most of the Attorney-Generals that are against it and I suspect Atkinson himself haven't played a single game in their life(beyond WiiSports) so it's easy for them to condemn what they don't understand.
Yea, the colorizing of ratings was pretty pointless IMO, I guess they needed to inform the very stupid.

For those of you who didn't check it out, the interview with Atkinson that I linked above was a real failed opportunity to hold his feet to the fire. Despite the interviewer's attempts to represent like a real journalist she allows him to get away with a lot of rhetoric: he throws around phrases like 'ultra-violent games' without once being asked to clarify just what these mean, and more than once declares that the Classification Board has been co-opted by 'the industry' without ever being asked to cite an example of that happening.
At one point he states that 'the vast majority of gamers' can play games like GTA without going out and killing people. This may sound like he's being reasonable, but 'vast majority' implies 'significant minority', which is completely disingenuous. The GTA 3 and GTA 4 titles have sold over
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Theft_Auto_(series)#Scores_and_Sales) 100 million copies, and I have only read of a handful of 'Grand Theft Auto-inspired' homicides and none where the killer didn't have a known history of violence and mental illness.
Never send a woman to do a man's job.

What really pisses me off about that interview is that he talks about gamers like their opinions don't matter(in such a condescending way) like we don't know anything. "Gamers are not society" They were last time I looked.
