. . . let alone afford all the clothes that automagically turn you into a respectable, law-abiding pillar of society
:laff: Not wanting to personalise anything but I have found it very funny on occasion when my generally scruffy, paint-strewn appearance receives raised eyebrows and very disapproving looks - until I open my mouth.
But, as probably some people are aware, it doesn't take much to cause a death -(
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/apr/07/video-g20-police-assault) Ian Tomlinson. And he only seemed to have a pretty mild push from behind (still wrong as he wasn't doing anything) but the repercussions . . . If someone had had a heart attack in Melbourne and died from obviously more physical activity, what would have happened? Brushed under a carpet like some things I've read about US police. An investigation leading to nothing? Or, as at least UK still manages to have, some accountability?
Edit. (
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-15415296) In contrast. Not that I actually approve of preventing anyone from worshipping wherever and whenever they wish.

Like was pointed out, you posted a clip with people being dragged and the quickest info to be found was they refused to leave when told to do so by the police. As for the definition of violence, I still don't see dragging as such.
Then, later, you bring out the beatings and officers removing their badges and a deep swamp of other bad stuff, and seem to imply that people who reacted to your first post are somehow condoning blind violence against completely innocent people. Come on, it's not like we're mind-readers here.
If
you had originally posted a clip like that, instead of something that looks like a mildish version of mud-wrestling, you would've gotten quite different comments.
Yeah I get it. I already made a post in recognition of how lazy and shit the OP was. Let's move on. I
was expecting mind reading god dammit
Jesus that's the first time I've seen that video. Poor bastard. :(

Before I read the rest of this thread can I just point out that the authorities in Saint Paul's originally (
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/15329004) welcomed the protestors to camp outside and in fact asked the police not to move them on, so not exactly an equivalent situation.
In fact, the reason they are there is because they were not permitted to get any closer to the City of London and the financial centre itself, because omg terrism

If we're going to give credit where it's really due, Occupy started in Sidi Bouzid, Tunisia last December.
No, the Germans started it in Poland, 1939.

No, not equivalent but the contrast to me was to do with the way it's reportedly being handled and there seems to be some consensus that they have the right to peaceful protest. Of course, it's only a brief report without much detail but I will be interested to see what happens and how it happens. St Paul's has no legal options apparently? Difficult situation for them really, Jesus was an original protester was he not? Edit. I should have said I was thinking more about Shakey-Lo's linked report.
I've just seen this (
http://occupylondon.org.uk/) open letter to St Paul's regarding the health and safety concerns that were apparently responsible for closing it. They've now started a second camp in Finsbury Square so I shall be watching what happens there.

The officer responsible has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and will be standing trial next year some time, in June I think. And sorry, didn't mean to hijack your Australian shenanigans with ours over here.

History repeats itself. And on TTLG!

Surely it was in Austria in 1938 anyway.
