You'll have to ask Heterosexual guy and Homophobic guy that, but I suspect Gay guy just made that shit up as an excuse to talk and they were actually looking at the hot Asian girl behind him.

Who was probably looking at Gay guy.
It's difficult for all of us I guess.

Maybe it's 'cuz it's 4:30 but that's the funniest line in this entire thread.

I've not played the game(s), and I haven't read the entirety of this thread in detail, nor have I read the original post by the "awful person" in great detail (though I've skimmed it all).
I don't see what the problem is with wanting a game that doesn't easily get you down some homosexual relationship route. Unless the game is explicitly about a homosexual, or if the sexual orientation of the character is key to the plot. If you're having it open - allowing player choice - and it is indeed true that pursuing a heterosexual relationship is difficult whilst pursuing a homosexual one is so easy that you might just fall into it that's just dumb.

It sounds like there's something of an imbalance, but I gather that you still need to consistently choose responses marked with a big love heart icon to trigger any kind of relationship. And if a homophobic player is doing that and then complaining about the outcome, I would be inclined to point the dumb stick rather more in the direction of the player than the game.

It doesn't easily get you down some homosexual relationship route. Like every Bioware game ever, to get into any kind of relationship at all you have to go out of your way to do so. The romance oriented responses are clearly marked with heart icons, and they show the text to boot.
In that one non-player initiated conversation with Anders I mentioned above, the response in question is marked with a heart and the text is "Well, at least he got a nice body." It's obvious what that response means, don't select it and that's that.
DA2 had a lot of faults, but pushing a gay agenda isn't one of them.

Some game needs to have a gay character named Ah Jendar real soon (probly Gothic would have done it if it weren't cancelled)
That or Gene.

Actually, something that bothers me more with Bioware's relationships is that they seem to think the only possible relationship between men and women is romantic. I remember playing a female Shepard in
Mass Effect and ending up with Kaiden, even though all I was trying to be is a friend to a guy who's traumatised. Suddenly my Shepard was getting remarkably physical with the guy, with me sitting there thinking, "What's wrong with just being friends?"

Not all that naive - I've been fairly close friends with a number of women over the years, without any attempts on either side to get into the other person's pants. I'm better than a Bioware character.
