Hi guys,
Some of you may remember me as the creator of this level: (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141635) Aurumpendo
I've stopped Dromeding for about a year now, but I'm getting this urge to start being creative again and make a new mission.
There's one thing I will need to know first, and that is the following: Is Thief and it's Fan Missions still played as regular as last year? I'd like to know that if I'm going to do my best for this, there will be at least some players ready to play it. Judging from the forum activity, that isn't going to be a problem though.
Let's get to the point now what really got me to want to start making a FM.
I had a dream two days ago, where I was (probably) Garrett myself, and I had to enter this big and beautiful mansion, without being seen by a single guard, only to steal this one single object that no one knew where it was. What was so memorable about this dream was the atmosphere of the environment.
That's it? No, well, yes, but here's what's I have in mind for a Fan Mission plot (it's still pretty basic but it's a start):
August 31, 2014 - Archaeologists found a writing in a tomb in Great Britain, that tells about an artifact of great power, which is believed to contain the souls of more than a thousand humans. It tells a small story about a prisoner who stole the artifact from a tomb nearby, and managed to escape because of the bad power of the artifact, without the prisoner knowing it was the artifact that helped him. Eventually, the prisoner learned about the Artifact and placed it back on its original pedestal, and he got cured from the curse of the object. (Yes, these are the events from Aurumpendo, my first mission)
The writing goes on in a different handwriting, one that looked fresher and thicker: 'Because the location of the artifact was too unsafe, it had to be moved to a different location, as far away from any human possible. Instead of sending it to space, where the results of exposing it to no oxygen is unclear, we have sent it deep underground, behind doors that no one can open' the writing goes. *A map is shown below the writing, showing the exact location of the artifact*
Of the group, only one archaeologist was willing to go there. Whilst the others thought he was crazy, the one archaeologist was so driven by curiosity, that he would go there illegally on his own if he had to.
And he did.
A few days later when he arrived, a big mansion owned by a rich family, was standing there on the exact location of the artifact. Weren't there any signs around that tells people theres danger around, at the time the mansion was built?? Maybe, that wasn't there on purpose, for the curious ones who wanted to dig underground to find what's there...Please, Post any suggestions, tips, mistakes in the plot etc. as it would help me a lot ^^ I hope you like what direction this is going towards.

What a coincidence!
I was just going to make a thread of giving away one of my almost ready mansions i worked on few months ago.
Mansion is almost ready by itself (cells at somewhere 28000), it's missing all objects and roombrushes still if i remember right, i haven't checked it for long time.
Most of textures in it are self made and it also includes custom objects.
Just wondering if you, or anyone, is interested in continuing it.

@Niborius: Don't be afraid, your mission will be appreciated by the community ;)

28000 WR-Cells is a hell of a lot of stuff. No objects and roombrushes added? I think adding those will exceed the WR-Cell limit. Why don't you finish it by yourself?

It's not good enough for me :p

Objects and roombrushes won't add WR cells, though, right?

Yes that's right. I mixed it up with pathfinding cells.

No issues there, the FM forum is still very active, the most active forum on the site here in fact. There are about 40 current threads there, with activity in the past 10 days.

Another traction gained is the fact that it's almost like developing a game, and lots of people are getting into that aspect, where fan mission building is a learning experience. Not to leave out, we all have that mission that we want to build that we wanted to see in the thief world. Finally, I love the new people coming in because they heard they have to play the originals if they heard about thi4f.

Sorry for the late response to my own topic.
It's great to see that the Thief community is still so active. My topic was already all the way to the bottom of the page.
Anyway, the coming months I'm not gonna have much time for Dromed, or at least, it's not a very big priority yet, but that may change in the future.
If I start with anything I'll let you guys know. Thanks in advance!
@gigagooga I'm probably going to make the mansion from scratch, but thanks for the offer :)
