My fellow TTLG'ers, we live in a time of plenty. Games are
everywhere, and they are cheap (frequently free!), many are quite good, and some evoke nostalgia of earlier, simpler days. And of course, we're not limited to one platform, chances are quite good that, like me, you have a box in a closet, a box under the bed, a box in the garage stuffed to the brim with old but awesome console games that you never quite got around to finishing, or even installing.
So yes, we have Piles of Shame.
Backloggery is a way to organize and track your game collection, a database with social and microblogging features. You get a cute personal web page with your stats, little meters and charts to show your progress, and you can manage a network of friends... or rivals.

But in this case, what you also have is a handy, eye-catching way to post here or in the "What are you playing?" thread:

Alternative: If you'd rather just artfully arrange your games on a shelf a la GOG.com, there's Darkadia:

If the shame was real, you wouldn't be posting. Enough about everyone's backlog or thoughts thereon.

...and here I was expecting this to be Yet Another List Thread™.
EDIT:-
I SPOKE TOO SOON

Updating one of those backloggery profiles seems like more work than playing the games themselves. If I wanna comment on what I'm playing or should be playing but don't have anything interesting enough to say to dredge up the appropriate thread for a game I'll just post it in the "What are you playing" thread for <strike>all the world</strike> a fraction of the GenGaming populance to see.

This is admittedly the kind of service some will wonder what possible use it could be, and for others, they'll instantly see the value and wonder where in the hell something like this has been all these years.

Hmprh.
When I feel like being crushed by my backlog, I just open D-Fend. 1000+ there.... Never mind the GoodSets either...
Yakoob on 14/7/2011 at 19:39
Wait, dont we have an active backlog thread that already talks about the site like, right next door?
also, points for a massive website which effectively replicates the use of a notepad. but the flashy graphics design and momentum will make it become huge until eventually it gets bought out by facebook/google/ign/gamespy/etc. earning the original creator(s) millions of dollars.
TL;DR wtf am I doing designing yet another business website and not inventing the Next Big Thing™ and retiring at the age of 24...
Mr.Duck on 31/7/2011 at 05:22
Man, say what you will Naysayers, but this site does kind of give incentive to play and finish old games. It's cool to have a mini-journal like system (more like Twitter, heh...).
Any more TTLG Backloggers?, already have Jason Moyer, Ladron3dfx and doctorfrog's backloggery pages in my multitap
:D
