lovely FM
although I was dying to go into all the building by the railtrack. My only problem is getting 4000 loot. I have 3600 and my stats say there is only 3660!!! Is it possible to finish on expert?
Ricebug on 2/9/2006 at 13:03
I don't know what in the hell is wrong. After going back in and adding more loot, I ran through the mission and the loot objective on expert ticked off. I re-sent it to Cheap Thief Missions.
Now, I go back and see that it's short of the $4000 AGAIN! All I can say is, don't play it on expert. The loot is the only difference between the difficulty levels.
My apologies. Either something is corrupt in a file, or there's another thief running around the trainyard.

Are you sure that you sent Jason the correct file? Maybe there are different versions on your computer, you played/checked the correct one but sent another version.

Ricebug, it might be better to PM me instead of relying on email because I'm just not email from you in a timely manner.
One other thing you can do is make sure that the updated mission zips include a version number, so that you and everyone else can see at a glance what version they have.

What a fun mission! Clear story, and I loved the outdoors atmosphere at the train station. One question: On the path to the police station
there is what appears to be a sliding wall. I couldn't get it to open. I assume this is an exit from something. Where?
Also, at the train station up on a large, flat roof
between 2 generators I found a purse and the key to the NW gate. There's a pressure plate nearby that sets off an explosion. Was there a readable about this? And what did I blow up when I stepped on it?
(I did enjoy ghosting the bank.)
@Dafydd:
Aargh! This is the second time in a week you have ghosted something I thought was impossible. I must be getting old. In fact, I
am getting old.:) That notwithstanding, my problem was that I could not get into the bank compound without being busted by the guard who stands by the metal fence.
First off, I could not find a key for the gate entrance, the obvious way in.
I assume that there is no key because of the fences and the alternate route that is available. Is there a key?
Here is the route I took:
Go in the house for rent, rope up to a window, go out on a ledge, and jump over to a fence post, then slide to the ground inside the fence. From there, the only route I could find into the bank was to go counterclockwise around it and enter the front door.
The problem I had with this route was that the guy by the fence sees you when you round the last corner, exposing yourself to the light. His alert is silent, but he runs around to the gate, and runs in place there. That is the main bust.
So then I tried ways to get around him. First, I went back and nudged the guard into the shadow to the left. No difference. Then I went back to the
ledge in the rental house and tried different things. I tried to jump from one ledge to the next and succeeded only once in ~30 tries, and that time I was busted. So then I jumped from the ledge to the fence and over to the next ledge. I did that about 30 times, and each time the guard saw me do the jump from the fence to the ledge. It was mossed, so he did not hear me. The best I could do was to cause him to alert in place and then settle down. Still a bust!
So, I am basically wondering, what route did you take, and how did you avoid alerting that guard?

Ricebug,
Thank you for your efforts. This is a very fine map, and I enjoyed playing it a lot. I particularly liked the wide open train area, including the trains themselves. Well done! :) I hope you get the dromed fever and do some more!
I finished on expert with 3845 / 2885 loot in V2, 40 short of loot available. It is interesting that Hope Vincent and coreyb2 both got 3620 out of 3660, also short 40. It makes me wonder if there might be a buried loot bug. BTW, I agree with Epithumia that you should give your versions numbers and take control of delivering them. He has instructions on his web site.
You said that you 'killed a thousand bugs and the beta guys found a few hundred more, so it should be a "clean" mission.' Fact is, given a certain probability (less than 1) of finding a bug, the more bugs you find the higher the probability there is of bugs remaining. I found two interesting ones: (1) there is a place on the west side of the train area where I easily mantled over the wall, out of bounds, and could not get back. (2) it is not too hard to find the slaves --
one can walk through both doors of the boxcar as if the doors were not there!
Finding the key is the trick.;) Don't be disheartened. These things are normal unless you have a substantial crew of testers and you do it in several rounds with different people.
Anyway, these things did not detract from my good time.

This FM is beautiful! Nice architecture, interesting story and,... OMG that floor in the toilet near the Kessler's office,... takes my breath! Real enjoyment! :D Thank you, Terry!

I was impressed by the
bathroom too. A couple of object mods and a wallpaper fix could have been easily added.
:thumb:
I really enjoyed this FM.
A couple of room brush problems made me unable to hear anyone,
but other than that it was really impressive. :)
You'll find out later. It is opened from somewhere else. I don't want to give the answer away, but you'll eventually find out how to open it.
First of all, thanks for the positive comments and suggestions.
As to the loot problem, I went back (again) and added more loot. Then I wrote down every loot item and totalled it up. Just to be sure, I entered the mission via DromEd at each loot point, and frobbed it to make sure the numbers added up. I got a total of 4645.
However, DromEd only reports a total of 3885. Apparently, there is something out of whack, and I am going to re-install everything from scratch.
I suppose I could adjust the loot goal amounts, but rather than risk further embarrassment, I think I'll leave it alone. Sorry for the hassle on you guys playing on Expert.
