Hi,
I am sure that this has been posted before but I am at the end of my tether regarding getting Thief 2 to, well, run! The game will not load at all, it flickers for some time when double-clicking the .exe file, and then goes to a black screen. No movies, no menu, no sound, I have to alt-tab out and close.
The annoying thing is I had the game running around this time last year! I am on Vista and I have the Sold Out UK version of the game.
1. Installed the game (simple enough)
2. Updated to 1.18 (with correct patch for Sold Out of the disc)
3. Applied Tafferpatcher, installing components as suggest on the old 'tinterweb
4. Nothing
Messing around with compatibility mode does nothing, Tafferpatcher has done nothing and I have followed all of the threads, however they seem to address the multi-core issue which effects the game after you physically start the mission. hmm.
Annoying thing is that I had it running, I know it runs on my laptop! Argh!

Really sorry about being rude and not supplying this information, have been very frustrated in not getting this running but certainley not an excuse.
OK, so my system is HP Compaq Presario CQ60 Notebook PC with an AMD Turion Dual-Core RM-70 (2.00 GHZ) processor, 3.00 GB Ram and Vista 32-bit operating system. The graphics are NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G.
The game copy of the game I have is the CD version of Thief 2 from Sold Out.
Does this help at all?
I somehow manage to get Thief 2 to work on this computer over a year ago, but I am now having problems actually getting the game to 'load' to the main menu. By double clicking the '.exe' for T2, the screen flickers and the hangs with a mixture of black screen and taskbar, with the usual Thief 2 1.18 programme listed. I have to cntrl-alt-tab and close manually.
I have patched up to date, tried many combinations of compatability (XP, 2000) and followed links from Tafferpatcher and permanent multi-core fixes, though I have recently completed Thief Gold without to many problems.

Hi!
Thanks for the link. I have just installed a full install of the game, patched and updated with DDFix. When I double click the .exe, I get a message 'invalid resolution in cam.cfg'.

tafferpatcher is all that is required,really (it contains ddfix as well, 3 diferent versions to be precise).

OK, so regardless of which fix I use, I cannot actually access the game. I double click the .exe and it takes about 3-4 seconds of flicking between desktop and a black screen before it crashes. It is almost as if the game itself will not load.

Make sure the resolution in ddfix.ini matches the one in cam.cfg. I think that might be your problem...

You might have done things in the wrong order. Tafferpatcher is an installer - read the key features.
If other methods do not work, try this : uninstall Thief 2 completely and then run Tafferpatcher, letting it do all the work.
Let us know what happens.
