I don't really read RPS so I may be wrong here, but reading TTLG I swear to good, I keep seeing a new "best of" lists pop up from them every other fucking week.

You're pretty wrong then.

Well, to be honest I don't think they're even trying.
They could as much be holding the "worlds greatest tree" competition by looking out the window, pick one and then go "done!"

First off, the RPS list isn't a best-of list. It's a "most important" list. Yes, there is a difference (many authors wrote about games they weren't exactly enamored with).
Second, they never should have put that into the top 122 thing - it is a MUCH better read in its original six parts, and the write-ups are generally fantastic.

Best-of lists that have over 100 games are hard to take seriously simply because there were only about 100 memorable games in the last 20 years to begin with, so it's not like what you wanted isn't going to be on there.

Arcanum isn't there.

Actually, if you look, they are the same list, just under different names. Which pretty much puts a joke to the whole thing, especially as things they could have previously put down to "cultural and historical importance" now gets thrown out of the window.
Mind you a lot of them aren't that great but are what you would usually expect to be in a list like this - i assumed that it was due to their popularity and therefore perceived importance but i guess not.
If a least was really done on importance, it would have games that tried to do a lot but didn't quite make it / were huge disasters. Nothing like that is mentioned.

There's been easily a million or more games released to date, a 100 slots is still very picky for anyone who is a real gamer.
