During the save or not save Paul from the Tonn mission, I found a datacube with a "new account" with accoutn number 487659, pin 249087. I tried it in a couple of ATMs but it gives me an invalid login. Is this just a red herring, or can I use it later?
Also, without giving too much away, can anyone tell me if you ever have any use for those darn cigarettes that are everywhere?

1. Bank code - are you sure you wrote those down right? Are we talking about the datacube that was behind the potted plant on the 2nd floor, or am I thinking the wrong mission? If I recall, all the accounts/pins can be used at the ATM nearest the datacube.
2. No. Ever. Except as a cheap laugh when things are going well and you want to make JC cough.

I must disagree about the cigerettes. They are loads of fun if you throw them in the water (and JC doesn't even have to cough).

Some DX hints say that cigarettes smoke can help JC to pass thru laser trigger, so as fire extinguishers. I have tried, no luck, may be I don't know the technique. :rolleyes:

I actually got this to work using a gas grenade... of course I took damaage going through because of the gas, but with my environmental resistance on, it was no problem. I then realized I was actually backtracking through a secret entrance I hadn't discovered before, and ended up wasting my time! :D
As for the bank pin, still haven't found any use for it... however, I am wondering that if I tried to hack the ATM first if it keeps that code locked in even if you have another valid code... regardless, I tried the code in Hong Kong and it didn't work. I double-checked the number twice (ok... triple checked?)

Bank pins only work for the level where you find them. So if you should find a bank pin for Jordan Shea's account (I don't think you actually do, but this is just an example), you could use that pin on any ATM in Hell's Kitchen.
Now let's say you use all the bank pins from a level and then try to hack. From my experience, once you've used the bank pins, the ATMs are empty. Of course, if you hack first, the ATMs are useless. However, it seems that you'll get the same number of credits whichever way you go.
Bottom line: Hacking can save you a lot of time, and you don't lose any credits by hacking.

apparently you have to circle strafe around the lasers while smoking or whatever..never tried it though.

Sorry, Thune, but in this instance you are wrong. Let's thake the first visit to Hell's Kitchen as an for instance. There are three codes in the level, the one in the 'ton ("T"), the one in the alley ("A")and the one at Smuggler's ("S").
A and T work on the ATM in the 'ton, S and A work in the Underworld Tavern and I think all three work in the subway. In any case, after milking the ATMs using the codes I can still get cash by hacking. One notable exception is the first ATM in the game, in the statue, where you can only get cash by hacking
or by using the code.
Some ATMs apparently have a semi-random amount stored while some always dispense the same amount when hacked.
Edit: Torpor is right, I think, the code he mentionend doesn't seem to work anywhere.

The Pepper Gun does WONDERS to get past lasers. Try it.
I accidentally discovered that gas and smoke count as real objectd while thinking of a way to get past a laser guarded door without using any multitools.
