Thing I learnt this week: Arkham Asylum got it's name from a H.P Lovecraft story. I was actually listening to "At the Mountains of Madness" on audiobook yesterday and the main character, a scientist, mentions a town called Arkham, and that one of his collegues got looked up in Arkham Asylum. And I was like NO. WAY.
And then I looked it up on Wikipedia and yes way.
HOLY SHIT EH

Arkham was Lovecrafts town of creepy-stuff-happens and it appears in several stories. The asylum, well yeah.

Apparently the folks at Guinnness give away world records for popularity with reviewers now, and (
http://www.bluesnews.com/cgi-bin/articles.pl?show=979) they've given one to B:AA.
Seems like an awfully lame catagory to have an "official" world record for.

Demo was fun.
Now then - PC or PS3? That is the question.

That one does sound like an attempt at getting some cheap publicity.

I went for PS3 as my PC's still broken at the mo, and I do like gaming on my big telly.
Just now completed it on hard with 100% of collectibles, and it was awesome. I'll be going back for trophies and things I think.

how long is it?
Malf on 30/8/2009 at 20:20
On hard, I reckon I put in a good 15+ hours. And that's without acing the challenge modes.
But it's not the length that matters here, it's the quality of experience, and this is superb; polished to near perfection, I'd recommend it to anyone, and I'm not a big fan of Batman

The only criticism I would level at it, based on the PC demo, is that it is very consolised. The environment is not interactive and it seems you have no jump even. There are elements of the environment that are interactive but its not freeform at all.
It was still alot of fun, grappling to the gagoyles, the gliding and so on.
I just hope that Eidos don't take this critical success as a template for Thief 4.
