It's not really fair to judge the game based on the demo, as it gives you such a tiny snapshot of the game as a whole.
While the stealth may not be up to Thief levels, there's plenty of scope as to how you approach certain situations; the challenge modes being the best example of this freedom of gameplay.

In this respect I think it perfectly fair to judge the game by the demo. Unless the gameplay mechanic
completely changes later on.
Go and read this thread and perhaps you'll get what I mean:

To be perfectly fair, complaining that a game is not freeform is a bit asinine. It's a game. It's going to abide by its own internal rules, just like any other fucking game ever made ever, Thief included. And that means Batman is only going to interact with what the game lets you interact with. Not every game can be, for example, Dead Rising. If that's a problem for you, then why are you even playing games? Go read a book.

I didn't say its a problem, I just stated that for a PC game it's very consolised. Its rare for purely PC games to have such restrictions.
I've already stated that I'll be buying it for PC when it comes out ffs.

It's not so much consolized as it is a console port.

limited interaction, long animations, slow enemies and one-button-does all IS consolized for me. if the intention was simplified gameplay or just an outcome of having to cater to a button-starved console controller does not matter to me, the design is like that and not that interesting for me. I would even use the term for a game that never even appeared on console. for me it has come significant for less interactive gameplay, an intrusive HUD like it is so common in console games, big font, big arrows pointing at the door and telling you after 6 hours of gameplay and about 666 doors opened: "PUSH X TO OPEN DOOR" "PUSH X TO OPEN DOOR" "PUSH X TO OPEN DOOR" "PUSH X TO OPEN DOOR" etc etc
best examples: last PrinceOfPersia, more overlong cartoon than game
what I miss is the immediacy of my action I had in older pc games (hit a button and something happens, not just seconds after a camera pulled out and showed you everything in 3rd person) and the complexity of input sometimes needed to pull off advanced moves or engage multiple enemies.
I would not say that consoles are responsible for that, it's just the way they like to design stuff nowadays and for lack of a better word, I call it: consolized
the lack of polish and idiocy that sometimes plague console ports or "multi platform releases" come more from the publisher not giving a SHIT or being just ignorant of the different platforms' strengths and how to use/market them.
I'm sure Thief4 + DeusEx3 will prove me wrong

Really. I wonder what you thought of Diablo, in that case.

Well now, that's only the quote of the fucking year. :thumb:

You know, mothra actually kind of has a point here. I downloaded the demo last night and found it to be a big middle finger to the PC user. I'm not saying it isn't incredible when played with a PS3 controller while reclining on a couch--I'll never know--but as a PC game I found it borderline unplayable.

It takes a little while Stitch but its fun when you get it. And mouselook has to be superior to a controller.
In other news, check this
