You can disable achievement pop-ups in GfWL. It's in the messaging settings.

thanks a lot. I searched for it in the main GfWL application, not the drop-down client ingame. using it usualy sends BAC into a freeze/sound skip loop, just like during the login upon startup. Btw, I succumbed and downloaded a securom crack and - surprise, the game starts in 5 seconds now instead of 30. Doing anything else than waiting for the game to start made the exe disappear from the task manager. Which has been fixed by the crack as well. oh, well.

Not had any GFWL issues but had 2 crashes to desktop already, and that's 1 per play as I've had little time to game this poorest week. Still in the intro. Most interesting way to start, I must say.

You have a PS3, and you went out for a PC port without waiting for the reviews to come rolling in? I mean, I love PC gaming as much as the next guy, but this was a console game through and through. Just play it on that sweet huge TV of yours and call it a day next time. Save yourself some headaches.

Higher native resolution and accelerated PhysX are a powerful draw, Gunny. And isn't there a DX11 patch coming?

And I don't want it on PS3 because the combat on the BAA demo have me motion sickness. You can control the camera a you fight on the PC, but on the PS3 the camera stick is the same thumb as the attack and counter buttons.
Plus higher res. And much cheaper for me.

So I played this through in DX11 mode.
My current system is an i7 with 16GB RAM, an SSD drive I run current games off of and a Geforce GTX 580 with 1.5GB RAM. A bit of a beast.
Even so, whenever a new area or area cell loads, there's distinct caching occuring. However, it didn't make my game unplayable, and I got into the habit of spinning the camera for a bit when entering new areas or after a load to ensure as much got loaded as possible.
In DX11 mode at 1920x1200 it's a stunning game. The console versions just can't compete with the amount of detail in the PC version. It's most noticeable when comparing character models. Incidental details that look slightly blurry or are even completely obscured on console are rendered sharply on PC with added effects and stupid levels of clarity.
Here is where I'd post a screenshot to demonstrate, but for some reason PrintScreen renders a black frame, and mine's not a Steam copy, so I can't use Steam's built-in screenshot functionality.
So yeah, excellent game, stunning visuals, but let down by over-zealous DRM, WIndows Live and some shoddy caching.

I'm waiting to play this one until the DX11 issues have been patched out and/or I buy a new video card. Just having started a replay of Planescape Torment helps to bridge the gap... :-)

Use FRAPS or DXtory to take screen caps.

you can also add it to steam as a non steam game and take a screenshot using the steam overlay.
