Arkham Asylum was great so really looking forward to playing this game. Not going to get it yet, but soon enough.

I´m really looking foward to play this one then, as soon as i finish Assassin´s creed revelation i´ll play right away Batman Arkham City. i just hope there is a map somewhere with the enigmas locations.
At this point I'm 35 hours in and still haven't finished the Riddler quest. New Game + is still super hard.

I wish I could enjoy Arkham City alongside the rest of you. But alas, I seem to be one of the people stricken with the stuttering cutscene issue. The game itself plays fine. The framerate is about the same as it was in Arkham Asylum, the controls are just as responsive. But the cutscenes? Well...
It all starts with the Nvidia logo. Looks fine for the first second, then n-n-n-n-n-n-n-vii-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-i-i-i-i-i-i-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a. Yeah. That's not at all fun to endure. Quite the opposite, in fact. It's annoying as hell. Unfortunately, the prerendered cutscenes ingame do the exact same thing. I've managed to get as far as the Two Face court scene before I threw up my arms, and gave up on the whole thing.
The only current 100% works-for-everyone way to fix the issue is to go in and delete all the movie files. I don't want to do that. I want to enjoy the game completely. So...eh. I'm gonna pass on it for the time being. I bought all the Infinity Engine games, and The Pandora Directive, so I've got plenty to occupy my time with until Rocksteady gets a patch or two out.

Sounds like a codec issue.
Renzatic on 22/12/2011 at 21:06
Sounds like it. But AC apparently uses its own internal renderer for the movie files, so updating anything outside of the game won't do much good. :(
I've read tons and tons about the issue, changed tons and tons of ini files, and tweaked bunches of little bits here and there. The only thing I've gleamed from it all is that it effects random people with random hardware configurations, from the high end to the low end, and there's no one fix that works for everybody. If it works for you, then great. If not, then you gotta wait for another patch.
It just kinda sucks that I can't play the game because of freaking damn prerendered cutscenes. I mean comeon. How could anybody screw that up in this day and age. GAWWWWW!

And if only you'd gotten that free Xbox with the fibre connection, you could have been playing the game right now without such awful problems.
I'm joking, of course. You should probably just get a new PC.
