Yeah, switching back to my CRT was weird at first but the improved visual quality more than made up for it.

I have both. I have a 21" CRT capable of 1600x1200 @ 100 Hz (120 Hz @ lower resolutions) and an LCD TFT with a 1280 x 800 native resolution. I use the CRT exclusively. I just think the image quality is noticeably better. Granted, my TFT is only a mid-range model, but still...
Like I said, I get people needing to adjust such things, I just never found it necessary.

My God, the (
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1231381) R7 client patch is awesome. The server browser is shit loads better now, you can filter the search by regions now; the Punkbuster filter is fixed; and they've added filters for Campcore mode, ranked servers, etc.
Kit load outs are remembered now. No more forgetting to pick your gear and spawning with the default selections.
They've added more recoil to the M60 LMG; M1911 pistol has a slower fire rate; Carl Gustav rockets don't seem as powerful any more, neither do 40mm rifle grenades.
Seems that they still haven't fixed shotgun hit detection though.
As for server side patches, ranked servers have to have PB enabled. Thank Christ, I was growing sick of the unprotected 3FL servers and all those clan ones hosted by Hypernia.

What's wrong with BF: Vietnam, exactly? (Other than radio calls, ambient propaganda, and the soundtrack being completely unaudible under Vista/Win7 for some reason which even ALchemy won't fix.)
It was pretty buggy on release. The game menus had response issues, the server system was sluggish & problematic (have they EVER fixed this with any of their games?), a lot of the weapons were not properly balanced (M60 was a better sniping weapon than a sniper rifle at first...and it doubled as a full auto death machine...and the kit came with a grenade launcher with HUGE splash damage), plus there were sound propagation issues, problems with the mp3 import system and menu, some wonky physics (although grenade-jumping was and still is the most fun I have EVER had with a battlefield game), and the game had it's fair share of crashing to the desktop and random disconnects from servers. There was probably more but that's what I can think of off the top of my head.
Keep in mind, these were all issues that were present upon release. They fixed most of these problems within the first few patches. It wasn't nearly as bad as the nightmare of BF2 where one patch would fix something and introduce a whole new problem which then had to be patched...and would cause the old issue to come up again and create a brand new problem at the same time.
Ahhh, I love me some Battlefield patching madness. I'm with all the people who say that BF 1942 was still the most fun and least problematic of all the Battlefield games. Vietnam was essentially not much more than a mod. BF2 was pretty fun and introduced some cool ideas; but none of the subsequent games have seemed to really go much beyond that. In certain areas they've actually taken a step back (no prone stance in BC2?).

Not being able to go prone makes BC2 a better game. It's the sort of thing that would obviously be a design flaw in a Bohemia Interactive game, but it's one of the things that makes BC2 vastly superior to every other Battlefield game.

Hmmm. I'm intrigued. Care to expand on our thought? I think I know where you're headed, but I want to be sure.

Useful info for those experiencing respawn lag since the R7 client patch.
Quote:
Guys if you have updated and you are experiencing a few seconds lag everytime you spawn it will be due to your AV. Known AV's AVG and Nod32; make sure you add C:\users\xxxx\My Documents\BFBC2\ to the exceptions list.
As of the new patch BC2 is constantly writing to the settings.ini/gamesettings.ini files to save the current kit you are using therefore your AV sees this happening and scans the file which cuases the lag.
