yeah, once their client does not suck 40% cpu power and is less annoying in its constant popping up nobody will care and just play games. Atm it is utter shit though and I hope they get it sorted out before bf3 releases. DICE is just not comfortable with releasing a working product and since their server browser seems to work for the first time ever on release they have to bundle at least a buggy 3rd party client with the game. It just would not be Dice without it.

They are still fairly new to the e-model and yes they are lacking there, but who knows - it might be exactly the popularity and hype of B3 that will give them the edge and push what otherwise might be a laughable and annoying online DRM scheme into a valid competitor against steam.
Maybe. It's more likely that SW:TOR will be what pushes Origin.

Don't forget Steam sucked maaaajor ass during its initial release, and it was the games that prevented its early death. B3 today (with CoD) are to the FPS industry what CS used to be back in the day, pulling large fanbases that will jump on whatever just to keep playing the next super awesome installment of their favorite neurotic trigger-puller.
This difference is that Valve seemed to actually care about their product, and aggressively worked to improve issues plaguing their consumers. EA doesn't, and seems to view Origin as little more than a way to lock down control of add-on content.

Hammer, meet nail.
It makes me wonder what EA
do all day.

Count their money.

True. But at the same time, loving and putting care in your product need not be a requirement for (financial) success.
(im kinda a pessimist can ya tell :I )

I have yet to upgrade to Win7 yet, otherwise I probably would. But given that I'm back in classes I'm thinking BF3 is gonna have to wait until winter break. :( I've watched a few videos of the beta's Operation Metro and so far it looks like that other franchise whose acronym is a fish inferior to halibut. On a scale of that franchise being on one end, Battlefield 2 being on the other, and maybe Bad Company 2 being near the middle, where does Battlefield 3 land?

I'm a big BF2 fan, didn't like what I saw in beta movies so far (Operation Metro). Looks more like BFBC3 to me. I guess I'll wait for more videos with vehicles.
