oh no, please help us Koki-Wan Kenobi, you're our only hope. Teach us the ways of not enjoying good games like Mirror's Edge.
1. Play the game
2. Have mild amount of fun because the game's "thing" is pretty much just a gimmick
3. Have it completely ruined by introducing enemies who shoot at you forcing you to fight them instead of running

ME's core gameplay a gimmick? wow.
You do know that the game encourages you to run from heavy encounters at many times, and punishes you for going head on.

Enemies shooting at you? This is crazy talk. Mirror's Edge is all about the falling. Falling, way before you ever give anyone the change to shoot at you.
Over and over and over and over...
...again. Mirror's Edge we hateses you, yes
Nice idea, I'm crap at it.

Yes, and then at some times it forces you to eliminate every enemy in the area. Because you need to climb a pipe to proceed. And climbing a pipe takes forever. And guys are shooting at you.
And yes again, it is pretty much a gimmick. Running and trickjumping is as old idea as the first Quake, and the body awareness has next to no impact on the gameplay, it just looks cool.

Probably not, but if they copy the old system used in BF2 it'll at least be tolerable. If they go with the extreme unlock progression featured in Bad Company 2, though...

And this is bad how?
I can't even begin to scratch the surface on how much stuff is there just to "look cool" or make games feel more right.
If we'd cut out all that stuff games would end up pretty boring, even if the game-play was intact.

Are you saying this from first-hand experience or just reiterating what other people have said? The only times I remember not being able to avoid combat were the hand-to-hand boss fight (which consisted of HUGE TELEGRAPHED ATTACK - SIDESTEP - HIT - HUGE TELEGRAPHED DISARM OPPORTUNITY - DISARM) and the last few guys in the parking garage, although I've seen videos of people bypassing them completely. I also usually wipe out the enemies in the room with the world's slowest elevator, but that's only because the game practically begs you to do a somersault onto and over a balcony and into an two-legged disarming dropkick.
Climbing a pipe takes forever, but there are very few, if any, areas where you actually need to do that. Certainly none I can think of offhand where there are enemies around.
