It's not the Biggest Issue ever, but the realistic motion in BSG is part of what makes the battle scenes so cool, and it's something I'd love to take control of.
From what I've seen, the fighter movement in the new BSG is about as faux-aerodynamic as we've come to expect. Sure they'll stop and pivot on rare occasions, but in general it's not nearly as realistic as Babylon 5 tried to be.
Anyway, fighter-on-fighter combat is pretty straightforward-- stay out of the enemy's sights, get the enemy into your sights. What alternate combat styles can you possibly suggest?

An interesting compromise would be to model Newtonian physics as I-War did, but provide the option for the ship computer to take care of all (or some) of the work for you if you want to get your hands dirty.
Not in this mod, but in a hypothetical space fighter game.

Interesting in the sense that it's the way anyone with half a brain would build a space fighter. :thumb:
Anyways, the video is looking cool. I wouldn't mind kicking some cylon ass! >.]
Hm. The Battlestar cannons looked pretty awesome, but what I really wanna know if they'll have the flak wall?

In a small space fighter, you boob.

For the love of god, please tell me I'm not going to have to explain the difference between the frame rate of a game engine, and the frame rate of a video.
Look you retard, I wasn't watching any videos, I was looking at the ingame fps counter
in some of their screenshots. Now go fuck yourself.

You don't remember these, then?

Many of the screenshots on the forums were taken using unoptimized builds of the engine, and/or (
http://www.game-warden.com/forum/showthread.php?t=214&) unoptimized reference models. If you'd bother watching the video, you'll notice that the mod is maintaining
at least 30 FPS while rendering one hugely complex model (the Galactica or the Cylon Basestar), dozens of fighters, hundreds of AAA shots, and all with FRAPS running in the background.
I severely doubt frame rate is going to be an issue.

Of course, but I-War is still a game where you primarily command a big spaceship. I want to see it in games where you only drive little spaceships.
I'm not saying that it would be new, just refreshing in the "WWII in space" genre.

Looks cool but isn't it in danger of being foxed?
