If you'd bother watching the video, you'll notice that the mod is maintaining
at least 30 FPS while rendering one hugely complex model (the Galactica or the Cylon Basestar), dozens of fighters, hundreds of AAA shots, and all with FRAPS running in the background.
Pardon me if I don't plan on using up all my 56k bandwidth for two hours.
Nevertheless, I have to assume that the video
has an in-game fps counter in it (since you said "If you'd bother watching

at least 30 FPS".
That being the case your first comment is nothing but trolling horseshit that make absolutely no sense.
If the video does
not show the in-game framerate, then your just a fucking liar.
Which brings me to my last point:

Then it's your fault for not saying so.
No, it's your fault for being a humongous shithead.

Someone's in a bad mood.
Anyway, seeing as how they need VAs I just had to sign up. :p

Looks like it might be fun for a little while, but not for very long. The space fights in BSG are incredible, but even so they are one of the less interesting parts IMO. If BSG could somehow be made into an engaging RPG it might be quite good, but just killing cylons in space doesn't sound all that appealing.

Of course, but I-War is still a game where you primarily command a big spaceship. I want to see it in games where you only drive little spaceships.
Fair enough. In all honesty, your best bet is probably a mod for I-War 2.
In fact the Babylon 5-themed "Buda 5" mods for both I-War 1 & 2 might provide some measure of satisfaction in this regard. I can't say for sure as I'm afraid I've not played them (always wanted to, never got around to it), but a perusal of the web site ought to give you some idea as to whether or not fighter-based missions play a large part.

That's a fair question. Of course the FPS counter isn't visible in the trailer footage-- that would be ridiculous. However, anyone can extrapolate a game's floor frame rate from video footage by noting the frame rate of the video, than examining the video for repeated frames.
By the way, the trailer video is 13MB. That's only about a 45-minute download under an ideal 56K connection.

Apart from anything else, this made me laugh. Thanks! :joke:

Did you read my first post? Did you read your own response to it?
Because I'm pretty sure I said, "They have one ship on screen, and are getting just over 30fps."
Now, assuming the trailer has a shot where only one ship is on screen (which I'm sure is the case, because if there wasn't then there wouldn't be any way for you to have been confused as to what I was -and wasn't- looking at when I made my first remarks), then my first statement is perfectly reasonable, and undeserving of your first asshat comment.
Now, you could have simply said something to effect of "I don't know what you are looking at, but in the video there were far more complex scenes and they were getting at least 29.97fps, therefore I think your concerns are unwarranted".
If course, that would mean that you aren't a humongous shithead, and therefore certainly couldn't happen.

Anyway, fighter-on fighter combat is pretty straightforward-- stay out of the enemy's sights, get the enemy into your sights. What alternate combat styles can you possibly suggest?
In my experience cmbat in the the I-Wars tends to involve a lot of circle-strafing and hit-and-run, with fancy tricks like pivoting on your axes as you shoot past. As opposed to the close-range contest of who can turn the tightest at higher speed that the likes of Freespace or TIE fighter provide.
Maybe it's something you have to play more to appreciate? I was just rejecting you assertion that fighter combat is "hell" with a more realistic flight model. Given the assists I-War provides - such as a limited degree of auto-aim, and correction of your velocity vector, there's no reason it can't work.
