You were dead.

It's not a bug, you just have to surrender, otherwise you fight, and since he's invunerable, you die.

Don't think so. We're beyond negotiations, Gunther and I. ;)
This time he blasted me, yet I woke up in the cell.
But hey, I don't remember everything. It's been a year. Just a bit disappointed at the lack of reward for going 'beyond'. In Hell's Kitchen I helped Paul kill the men in black. Same thing. Some extra skill points would be nice.
And why would I want to go to Battery Park (from Hell's Kitchen), having already received Jock's message that he's no longer there??
Since he has a direct link (or should be informed of my actions through Alex J.), he would know to come back to the roof of the 'Ton, right? I did, after all, take out the troops. How the hell are we going to solve the world's conspiracies if we can't even figure out this shit?
Even though the game sucks in Battery Park, I learned something valuable there:

he laments the fact that the game had a "forced failure."
I can understand why, if you read the DX postmortem at (
http://www.gamasutra.com) www.gamasutra.com (quite a long read, too) in 96 or so he layed out the 'Rules of Role-Playing'. In it there was stuff like, "If there is something fun, let the player do it, not watch a NPC do it," another one was to never have 'forced failures'.

The way I "beat" the the ambush was to go to the subway station earlier, before I pissed off UNATCO with the resistance's sattelite message, and used the gate code I had written down from my last run through of the game. When I got to Battery Park, Anna and Gunther ran up to me like they were going to attack me, but then they just stood there like a couple of knobs, and didn't attack. Neither did the troopers or bots. I managed to get out, but didn't find the helecopter. Damn Jock...coward...
In fact, it was like the AI engine locked up because I started to kill the troopers but they didn't respond...weird...
It's like the developers didn't even think anyone would be clever enough to figure out how to bypass the ambush...

Anna.... who??was that the anna Navarte (sp?) from UNATCO?? I ended up killing her.. I was in the plane questioning that guy and she shot him and hit me.. the little arrows turned red so I shot her in the head with my sniper rifle!!
