dema - as far as wine goes; I'll have it but I can take it or leave it. Offer me a good beer instead and I'm sold. I suppose wine does go well with certain meals but it's really lost favour with me because I don't have much cause to drink it these days. The gf occasionally gets a white out to go with seafood but I only ever buy it for cooking. Same with brandy and port - only in the house because I cook with it.

Ye Gads! Kostriker sounds awesome. Just googled it. Never had it, more's the pity. Sounds like a mid-session drink, not one to start with and definitely too heavy to be rounding off with. Where do I get my hands on this elixir?

As chance would have it, I got myself a bottle of Doom Bar tonight. Pretty good stuff! The name sounds like a weapon out of Warcraft or something, mind you.
Anyways as far as British ales go my favourite would prolly be Dark Lord from Batemans.

I personally thought it was where RBJ got his license to practice law ;)

My favorite right now. Nice and chewy.

This is really good too. Not as chewy, but good.

I went to school at U. Texas, so obviously was indoctrinated to recognize one king of beers.

I've never had Fischer, Larry G, but I've had plenty of NBA and I think it only comes second to Carling in the horrible rankings. I used to drink it as a student because it was cheap in the bars near halls, but I've tried it every now and again over the years and everytime I think "what were you thinking? the folly of youth!"
Yes, itt you mention some British catastophy of a drink and I instruct you on the error of your ways. :p
