Before I would even THINK about buying thief 4 ... - by webe123

Before i even think about buying a game, i checkout gameplay footage on youtube.
A trailer never does the job. Even if it ends up getting crap feedback on release, i'll probably still get my gremlin paws on it.
I got my thief collection all lined up here, sold TDS though, ha. Not worth a 3rd replay, actually doing my 5/6th run through of T2 this month since 2003 or something..
I will require:
-Nice graphics/smooth gameplay
-Less restrictive blackjacking (to hit from the sides aswell - & when I'm ready)
-1st person (100% available)
-Lovely T1+T2 style cutscenes not 3d crappy ones.
-A sword. Infact THE sword we stole from constantine.
-Garrett
-Classic 'thief' atmosphere
It would be nice to have:
-Scouting orbs.
-Rope arrows
-The Thieves Highway
-Large levels that arn't cut in half.
-City zones that don't mess up your game.
I couldn't care less for:
-Water/swimming (though it should be allowed!!)
-Burriks/zombies/beasts (just no new species we have enough)
-Climbing gloves
-3rd person
-New factions
-Consoles. Should be made FOR PC.
Yup yup. I seen the photo of the testers, they are playing it on xbox, so already in my bad books :nono:
edit: if T4 turns out ok, i'll get TDS back.

another thing that thief 4 could include is a fifth difficulty level. where you have to ghost on it if you pick it.

They could include a 6th difficulty level. Where you [don't] play a ninja assassin in 3rd person with cool takedowns.

since T4 is almost certainly going to have a 3rd person camera option, perhaps even as default.
Which right there is enough to make me lose interest and say "yup, the franchise is dead"
One of the many things that crapped all over TDS, let's try it again... BARF. At that point I'm wondering if this time around they'll call a full on warhammer a "blackjack" like the spiked billy club from TDS... Because when I think non-lethal knockout, I think a solid club with metal studs.
If that's the trend, this time out 'mines' will be the size of monster truck tires with disco balls on top of them?

You're being a bit romantic about the blackjack. It may be "non-lethal" but if you're going to quibble about the realism of a knock-out device you might as well know that a real blackjack, non-studded, will cause serious and likely permanent injury/brain damage anyway.

...Which sort of explains Benny.
67. Before I would even think about buying Thief 4 it'd have to work on a PC that struggles with Thief 3; but does everything else impeccably. I still hope it's nice though.
68. Before I would even think about buying Thief 4 they'll have to release a screen-shot or a sign or something so that I know that it even exists. I hear there's good (

I won't. Buy something which doesn't even have a editor? Whose interface is going to be optimized for 3rd person console controllers?
Hahahahahaha.

Oh. And achievements.
If its got those childish achievements that are delivered to your screen personally through an inconvenient grey box, with some smirky bag of crap explanation, some statistic, and a list of other 'achievements' it'll go further down hill. I'll just pass the game onto my brother - since he's out to get every achievement for every game possible to prove his pr0-esk gaming elitism.
I see no other point in achievements other than to boast about completing a game.
It hampers enjoyablity - and kills the atmosphere.
Best suited for games with a target audience of children or arcade games.
I blame the existence of achievements solely on xbox. My hatred is RAGING.

I didn't know that!:wot:

Im gonna say Thief 4 will be another crap console port. I dont see how making a console port is going to be good for sales, there biggest market will be here on the thief community. people from the thief cummunity sites are going to be the first people to go out and buy this i would think.
But im not holding out much hope for this game being any good. Game makers are lazzy and very greedy and nothing else these days.
