They only rolled in Halo 2. And they did it to 1) dodge a rocket heading their way, 2) dodge a speeding car coming their way, and 3) dodge a grenade blast.
Not to be a nit-picker, but I seem to remember the bigger aliens rolling in the original
Halo. Also, I'm pretty sure I'm not mixing them up with the the ones in
Halo 2 considering I've never played it.

By "this day and age" he was obviously talking about 5-6 years ago, hence the Morrowind citation.
I would submit that if so, it can't be 'this day and age' at all then, eh?

Aye, they did roll in the first game, but only really for conditions 2 and 3. They do take cover as well, when their shields are down or nearly so, but they don't roll to get there or anything. Considering the aliens' entire armament consisted of bright colorful energy projectiles (and the odd pink splinter launcher), cover and concealment is probably not something they're big on.
And seriously, people, oversimplifying another game's combat system doesn't convince anyone that your viewpoint is correct. All three games have combat that's fun and challenging to some, frustratingly tedious to others.
