I agree, TotT was extremely innovative in its day, and even by today's standards.

first time iplayed tott i spend at least 30 min trying to get started,i had to get help on that ,the rest i did on my own but with a ton of trail and error=pretty much frob/hug every square inch of map to find everything, and if a jump/crawl on a ledge is possible i tryed it
it was a great mission,i just dont think it needed enemys at all the fire elements and those water creatures just took away from mission in my view, but all the traps were cool,i tested them all just to be sure they worked nice, and i never get enough of the garrett dead sound effect, mirror turning was fun/also collecting
wont spoil it for those who never played it,but it is for experienced players,a noob would rage quit

The fire elementals were there because they were part of a puzzle. The water elementals were originally going to be part of a puzzle too, but I couldn't think of a decent puzzle for them, so I just left them in as enemies.

The poltergeist wall thing in Rose Cottage is the best single effect I've seen of the FM's I've played, especially because it's so far outside the realm of what it seems Thief is capable of. Temple of the Tides though is like a demo of neat effects all put into an amazing mission, the light-beams and the hallway/teleport trick are very cool.

Most of the particle effects and swooshy whirly things in Broken Triad. There were just too many good ones to mention, but the teleport swirls in the second mission were probably the coolest.
