Are you sure the Fallout OST qualifies as "various artists"? Aside from the Ink Spots song, the entire thing was done by Mark Morgan.

Variously inspired is not the same thing as various artists. We don't say that Slayer wrote the music for Doom, do we?

Homeworld's track is incredible. It fits the game perfectly.

Both recent Bionic Commando games have outstanding soundtracks. One particular stand-out is the tune for High Tech Fortress in Re-armed.

That depends. Are there any tracks in Doom that are so similar to anything Slayer's done that they may as well be the same song?

I don't feel like dividing these into genres, but here are some music scores I really like:
Doom, Doom 2
Warcraft II
Starcraft
Unreal, Unreal Tournament 99
Outlaws
Final Fantasy games
Ys games
Katamari Damacy
Quake 2
Command&Conquer music by Frank Klepacki
Companions of Xanth
Total Annihilation

(
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121335) The old "Favourite Game Music" thread.
The music from Bloodlines has been growing on me since then, I really must replay.
I've never really understood genres, or at least been able to decide what to classify things into.

I'm absolutely horrible at picking genres, but chances are most of these aren't the same genre. I've picked these from the short list that I copied over to the EEE PC:
Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles
Chrono Cross
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7
Katamari Damacy
Knytt Stories
Loco Roco
Mirror's Edge
Okami
Rogue Galaxy
Shadow of the Colossus
The Witcher
Ys: The Oath in Felghana
World of Goo
