Pay attention, doctorfrog has it in his iTunes collection.
At 5AM if I can't find it in a text search it's not there. But point taken.

Earthworm Jim 1 and 2 had pretty much everything but the kitchen sink in its soundtrack. Beethoven, Cuban dance, techno, you name it. Its not just that Tommy Tallrico is talented, he's versatile. And the songs were great.

Just thought I'd let you know that Tommy Tallarico didn't write the Earthworm Jim 1 music, Mark Miller did. Tommy Tallarico redid some of it for the Sega Cd version (used better fake instruments I guess) but he didn't rewrite any of it.

Game music definitely needs more jazz/big band stuff. TF2 and NOLF should be proof enough of that. More variety in musical styles/techniques in general would be a welcome change, I think. Things are starting to get a little homogenized toward epic orchestral stuff.
I'm still waiting to see a game composer with the balls to set a major firefight to a solo viola or cello.

I had no idea that was a cover, or the others.
Most of the stuff I like has already been mentioned here. Late to the party.
MDK, if just for that magnificent title track and the playful tune on the second or third level.
Gish had some awesome music in the jazzy-ish and other categories.
Starcraft had a few good bits for that space-opera style classical
The Path had some great moments musically... hard to point out tracks though as the individual tracks run through a modular mixing system. Ruby's wolf encounter is particularly awesome.
The first track of Duke3d I absolutely love, whatever genre that is.

Just wanted to pop in and echo Silkworm's praise for the early Sonic games. The US version of Sonic CD had some fucking great music, too- Stardust Speedway Bad Future is an obvious one, but also Tidal Tempest Good and Bad Futures and Metallic Madness Present.
The game itself was a little mediocre, but Knuckles Chaotix also had some excellent music. Very jazzy feel to it.
Sonic 3D Blast for the Genesis also had awesome music. Again, game was mediocre, but goddamn I could listen to Rusty Ruin Act 2 over and over.
